Wednesday Walk Fall colors in Brooklawn Park
This post if for Wednesday walk challenge And Make me Smile Collaboration challenge, initially our collaboration was once a month but due to the popularity of it we have decided to make the collab a weekly thing :)
Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

As I mentioned above Wednesday Walk is collaborating with the [Make Me Smile] hosted by @elizacheng,

Your post can be writing, singing, video, poem,drawing, photography etc.... the most important part is your post Make me" smile, Remember, the ME is whoever read/view/listen to your post and this includes YOURSELF.

c. Please include at least 50 Words in your post
For this weeks walk, I am sharing a walk done in Brooklawn Park here in New Bedford, some nice Autumn colors were out, most of these were taken before a recent storm came through and damaged a few trees.

Brooklawn park is a 85 Acre multi-use complex with baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a skate park, playground, splash-pad, and nature trails.
A prominent New Bedford Quaker, Daniel Ricketson built a country estate in what is now Brooklawn Park, in an effort to remove himself from the bustle of the city’s center,. Literary greats, such as Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, often visited Ricketson at his estate.
This land became a city park at the end of the 19th century.

As you can see I wasn't the only one enjoying this area, you can see someone looking over the little pond in the park

As I said earlier its a big park, but i mostly walk in this area around this little island in a little pond in the big park.
And on that little island is this model of a house, now that I know some more about the history of the park, I wonder if its a model of the house Daniel Ricketson had

Now this next shot is of the tree that was most showing off its rich warm Autumn colors that day it was so beautiful

After the storm came through I was curious to see how that tree was doing, and here it is after the storm, it didnt seem to suffer any damage but a good amount of the leaves were gone

The first photo is great - yellow, orange, red and green so close together, but I absolutely love the last photo of the tree after the storm. It looks stunning in red in the other photo, but the partly bare branches and the dramatic sky make the last photo my favourite ☺️

That park looks really nice for sure! The storm certainly took the trees beauty away that’s for sure. Happens though, thankfully the tree is still standing!
I like the idea of the make me smile contest! We need lots of those nowadays that’s for sure! I think I might have another Wednesday walk post coming up! I will have to check!

It is a nice park, they have oth rparts with a kid playground and sport courts but this spot by the lake is my favorite part
What a beautiful place to just take in nature and those colorful trees. I love the replica of the original house on the island, very cool idea. I noticed the mallard eyeing it up.😀

Autumn is probably the most loved of the seasons anywhere. In addition to the cool climate, the trees change color, it also brings in a person's soul something that settles and slows down. You can also use the words peaceful and relaxed. The park where you are is so dreamy. I will be taking on this challenge next Wednesday because I love walking around. Thank you for organizing

We still have some leaves hanging on for dear life in our front yard tree. I will be happy when they are all down because that will mean I am done mowing for the year! Beautiful shots of a really nice looking park! The trees on the island are super cool.
Ohh the same here still some leaves remaining after the storm there were so many was a huge job cleaning them all up will be glad when they are done

That's definitely a beautiful park and the colors of autumn accentuate its beauty, especially the red/brownish hue of that tree. A framed picture of the tree before the storm would make a great gift. Anyways thank you for sharing and keep enjoying your week :}

Wow! What a difference a little rain and a lot of wind make, yes? I have to wonder if that was his house or a replica of it, but, when he secured the property where Brooklawn is, he built a small shack 12x14 and I don't know if he built another, but, more than likely, right?

I did read about the shack he built but didn't find any reference to any other properties he built, maybe the small house on the island on the pond has no significance at all, maybe its a home for the ducks LOL

Love the pond and the gorgeous trees. Funny, sometimes it's nice to have a random stranger in a picture. It adds a certain something. The little house is so charming!
And I love the before and after pictures of the tree. It shows the progression of Autumn in two shots! Storms do tend to bring all the leaves down. We are fortunate to only have had some mild rain so far.

Yes, they really do. This year they seem to be lingering here, but what I actually think is going on is that different types of trees are on a different timeline. So some of them peaked in early October, some in late October, and even now others are at their best.
I think here the hurricane that just missed us brought a lot of salt water into the trees so the colors didn’t peak as much as previous years but yes also different trees and even different locations seem to be on different timelines

I will concur with that we are lucky in this area to have the most amazing displays of Autumn colors
