1.JPG

Winter cityscape with an Orthodox church.
Photo taken by me in the cold winter time.
It's like a painting by the artist Savrasov.
Amazing beauty of nature and the city.

2.JPG

This winter we had a lot of snow, severe frost and cold.
These are such big drifts of snow in front of the temple.
When I took these photos, my camera was freezing.
The temperature was minus 34 degrees Celsius.

3.JPG

There was such a gray haze all around that day.
It was as if the whole world had been swallowed up.
This is the kind of winter where the colors are faded.
There are only three colors: gray, white, and black.

4.JPG

This is the view of the temple from the central side in the wintertime.
And the monument, which was put here by the citizens of the city.
In memory of the victims of the Armenian genocide.
Many citizens like the monument - beautiful and tall.

5.JPG

Rear view of the architecture of the temple.
But here too, the temple is just as beautiful.
Unusually beautiful 18th century architecture.
Such beauty was handmade by craftsmen back then.

6.JPG

And this view from below of the temple from the river.
Towards the river descends a large and wide staircase.
This staircase goes all the way to the water of the river.
You can walk on the stairs in winter and summer.

OLD CITY ORTHODOX CHURCH AND HISTORY.

The first temple in the city was the Holy Trinity Cathedral. The temple was built in 1754-1762. The temple has the appearance that we see now in the photo. After the coup in 1917 the cathedral was closed by the Communists. For a long time in the building of the cathedral were located warehouse, dormitories, gym and other public services. And in 1997 the church was returned to the faithful, today the cathedral has a Sunday school, which teaches the law of God, church singing, as well as an applied art studio, where they paint icons. This was my photo report on one of the historically significant cathedrals in the city. I wanted to show the beautiful architecture designed by Italian architects from St. Petersburg, Russia.
