Today I want to share some details and metaphors in "Our Lady of Words and Silences".
This piece addresses the importance of silencess. We often consider that what has more power are the words we say, but silences also have power, as much as words. They have space, have rhythm and mark time. As in music, we could not understand a melody without silences.
Silences are very important in my work, and they enter the imagery of my pieces together with negative space and the other: that which is not accepted, that which is not seen, that which is hidden.
In this piece, my character reads a book, which represents a source of knowledge. Books contain words, and most of the time they are read silently.
In the background there are flying pages, and under them, fire. This refers to book burnings, which have happened historically, as a way of trying to dominate those who free themselves through reading.
The tongues and the mouth refer to oral literature, that which persists in memory and is transmitted after generations.
The aura with the squares and rectangles represents the silences. Behind them letters are hidden, those silences have messages. Can you imagine what they say?
And within its golden aura are hundreds of letters, with some references to words used in the metaverse.
Her face, with a constant look towards the spectator, makes us feel that she is saying something with her eyes. His hair tied up in a turban were painted flat black, like her clothes. And the feather and the pen stuck to the turban: both in negative space, representing the mystery on what is written, what is read.
