"I don't know if it has ever occurred to you
but the Botanical Garden is a park asleep
in which one can feel a tree or one another
just as long as you comply with a previous requisite;
That the city exist peacefully in the distance."

This way begins a poem by Mario Benedetti (Uruguay 1920-2009), called To the left of the oak.

The complete poem can be read here.

Particularly now, the botanical gardens, parks, and trees are desperately surprising. Plants continue to grow in a hurry, and we are locked in our apartments, living in the cities full of us, without seeing or touching each other, but knowing that we exist, as we know that gardens still exist.

At some point we will be able to go out to them, although nothing will ever be as it was.

The illustration / La ilustración

There is not much to explain about this illustration that I have not already told you. It is the first in a series of illustrations about nature and us. If we look closely, the plants become somewhat macro, super dimensioned, and we are simply small in front of them.

Like any idea, started with a doodle. In this case a digital doodle.

Como toda idea, empieza por un garabato. En este caso un garabato digital.

I worked with a limited color palette. I feel that this gives me a specific range to maintain the idea and the emotions that I want to transmit through the colors. I paint the skin of my characters and their details in a single layer.

I add a little greenery.

Agrego un poco de vegetación.

3.jpg

And hair details. I added hair strings and some light.

Agregué algunas hebras de cabello, y algo de luz.

4.jpg

A general shadow was added in another layer. It is in fact painted with a purple color, in multiply mode at 20% opacity.

DETAILS! her hair is supported by some vines.

¡DETALLES!
