Showcase Sunday - The Travenmunde collection

in OnChainArt4 years ago

I got a new badge from Hivebuzz yesterday saying I have been on Hive for 3 years now. What a blast that has been. It has become such a big part of my life I wouldn't know where I would be without it.
In that three years my consistence of posting has been erratic. Life gets in the way with my type of work and also having a small child means I don't feel as comfortable as I used to taking time to myself. Although I am consistent in my inconsistency I take very seriously what it means to be a member of this community and look forward to another 3 years.

My posts take quite a while to put together, from processing photos, pondering what approach I want to take and and then finally writing my little stories I'd say on average around 3 hours per post. Yes I am pretty slow but I also want each of my posts to be worthy of the viewers attention, not just for the images but for their reading enjoyment also. I am still learning and enjoying the bingo of the reward pool.

I just thought I'd mark this little moment in this post but today I am here to showcase my sculptures from a project I used to do in Travenmude, Germany. I was there several years and always enjoyed the fun in the sun.

It was always a bit of a commercial event but I tried to give the project I was asked to do a little something special. Each of these sculptures are documented in full here on the Hive blockchain and you can click the images to be taken to the full story.

Casino

For my first time there I came up with an approach to showing movement in a sculpture that would spawn many other ideas for future sculptures. The piece was not the most beautiful so in PeakD I will try and choose a different thumbnail image to this post.

Dreamtime

I developed the technique a bit further and used it to explore aboriginal Australian dreamtime of course without knowing what dreamtime actually was. Luckily @leoplaw was in the comments to set the record straight.

A hop, skip and a jump

And further again to help interpret the movement of a long jumper.

Berlin Olympics 1936

The Berlin Olympics under the Nazis was the theme of this sculpture and the reaction of the Führer to Jesse Owen amazing wins.

Circus

I now take you backstage at the circus to see the dressing rooms.

The time machine

A time machine sculpture lead to another new approach for me to explore as I began to play with crazy perspectives.

Sun dial for Joe Maize

And finally on a more somber note I created this piece to hold the ashes of a very divisive sculptor.

So that's it for this week. It is always nice to give these a second chance at some new eye.
Have a great Sunday

hello friend, I have read your writing, and have seen many of your works, and my two children like it very much, and they get angry when I change the screen.
maybe they will become your big fans. thank you for how it looks.

Thanks very much. For me it is a honor that I can share my work with the community and in the process it is giving me the encouragement to document all my work. Cheers

Happy hiversary to you too, there's been a few 3 year celebratory posts in a relatively short space of time XD

I love the circus one!

Thanks, I look forward to what the next three years bring. Lets hoe that Hive will continue to grow and that maybe one day it can become some sort of retirement plan. Me with my big dreams!
I always like that circus one also. I like the expressions in the clown triplets.

Congratulations on your 3 years and on your sculptures! They look, as usual, so good!
