A touched soul

in OnChainArt4 years ago

I was thinking about all the people who touched my skin in the way I show it in this facepainting done by me. I called this one A touched soul because the touch we experience is more than skin to skin. It is soul to soul.

We often believe that people who come and go from our lives did not get the whole picture of us as a person. We crave for connection and for a meaningful relationship, but it happens to touch someone's life in a way we didn't intend to. When someone gets under your skin, you feel vulnerable. You don't understand the harm you did to others until the very thing happens to you.

You can't understand the pain of your words and actions until you're on the other side of the receiving end. You don't understand love until it's taken from you. You don't understand that someone loved you until you're with someone who loves you not. You don't grasp regret and frustration until you lose the things you once took for granted. We believe we enter someone's life and that it's only us who suffered. More than often we also caused pain, but we choose to be blind to it. Our ego tells us that it is them to blame and we are so sure the next one will be better.

Have you wondered how you might have left scars on someone, thinking you were giving a gentle touch when instead the other person felt you've put your claws into their heart? Have you wondered how would it be to apologise years later and admit the damage you've caused? Have you wondered how many souls have you touched and how many of them are still bleeding because of you? Uncomfortable questions, isn't it?

But usually everything comes back at us eventually and your soul will be touched too. Again and again. You'll get back the same touch you gave to others. Will it be a blissful caress or a sharp blade right where it hurts? I believe time will tell and the skin of the soul will show...

Your body painting is like poetry. So expressive.

You’re right, we might hurt people in our ways, but it is important to recognize and say sorry. Maybe this will not heal the whole damage, but it will certainly guide you to not hurt the someone else doing the same. Those who don’t recognize mistakes are always hurting people in their ways.

Hey! Thank you very much Alejandra! The ones who keep hurting others never apologise because they never believe they did wrong. Such a person living in denial will not recognize their emotional abuse on somebody else. They usually come from families where verbal and physical/emotional abuse was common, therefore for them it is a normal behavior. I wish more people like these would get professional help.

For those who can apologise and recognize their problem there is hope. Apologising shows maturity, responsibility, a desire to repair the relationship. It takes self esteem to apologise. The people who lack such trait will never apologise because they are too insecure. It is sad, but we get what we deserve in life. The happiness is for people willing to work on themselves and be a good person. For those who do not accept bullying, abuse and disrespect.

Thank you for taking time to read this, I appreciate it!

Sad, but true. I like to think that there is hope for everybody, but sometimes I don’t know.

Yes, sad. Hope is not enough if one does not take action. Hope with lack of action is just wishful thinking

I love this creativity . Extremely unique

True! One does not really understood the pain he or she had inflicted on another until he or she is at the receiving end of that pain. That is why my dad will always say, don't be mad at that person for hurting you. He or she might not understand he hurt you. Just return the favor and explain that that is the exact way it hurts 😁 at times I find this selfish, but there's lots of truth within it.

I must confess, that face painting looks really nice🥂🥂

Hey! Thanks a lot for appreciating this! Indeed the ones who hurt the most are suffering inside so much. Some use it as an excuse, some do not even understand the damage they do. They keep on doing the same thing over and over again, putting the blame on the others. I believe it is too painful to go deep inside and see all of that mess. I feel for them, but in the same time all of us had trauma in our lives and that should not be used as an excuse to hurt other people. Assuming responsibility, apologising, solving the attitude, those are proactive solutions.

I believe a lot of the world would be a better place if people would solve in family drama. We adhere to childhood patterns we were taught and we shape our reality acordingly. It is wrong. But.... How many have the courage to speak with their parents? How many can apologise to people they did harm to years ago? How many could change a bad environment, leave bad friendships and jobs? How many could actually admit that all of their life has been lived in the wrong way? It is not an easy thing to do, to change, therefore, sadly, too many sit in denial and anger and keep hurting other people along the way.

I believe in the people's power to change. But first they have to admit they have a problem. Easier said than done.

I am happy that my facepainting inspires people to think.

Have a great day!

Beautifully expresses dear.
I can rate very well.

The art makes me think of Indians like Pocahontas.
