DEVELOPMENT OF A WATER FOUNTAIN FOR BIRDS

in OnChainArt4 years ago

Hi dear Hive friends and @onchainart community

In my previous publication I mentioned the conditioning of a space that I made in the patio of my house to have my own art and craft workshop.
Link SPANISH VERSION

Today I built a water trough for some little birds that have their nests in a tree in the house. High temperatures have caused drought in much of eastern Venezuela. So I made it a priority to make a water trough for them.

Without further ado, the materials I used for this job are easy to get:

(Image shows the basic elements)

  • Totumo
  • Bamboo
  • Red Cord
  • Manual cutting saw
  • Exact cutting clamp
  • Marker
  • Drill
  • sandpaper
  • Gripper
  • Wire

ELABORATION

1 STEP

Mark the totumo by half the circumference, leaving two ears as a shape to hang it.

2 STEP

Cut with the saw or cutting pliers very carefully.

3 STEP

Extract the inner part of the fruit from the totumo, clean well and test with water to ensure there is no seepage before proceeding to the next steps. If the Totumo is suitable to retain water, then sandpaper to avoid sharp parts that can harm the birds.

4 STEP

Drill a small hole at the top where the ears are and other larger holes underneath to insert the bamboo. This part is very important because it is there where the birds are going to perch, it must be firm and in balance. You can secure with clamp and wire as the picture shows.

5 STEP

Insert the string through the ear holes and use another bamboo cutout for the other half of the totumo, to give it a roof, a coat and to make the birds feel more confident.

6 STEP

Hanging it on the tree is not so close to the nest so that they do not feel threatened, obviously this system of drinking water is new for them.

Notice how beautiful it looks!

PLAYING WITH CREATIVITY:

It is advisable to let the totumo dry well, but to show the publication I am taking this step by step.

You can take advantage of the fact that the totumo is green to do some freehand tattoos, I set today's date and painted a bird so that when it dries, it will be a memory.

Others paint them in colors and each one can give it their personal and original touch.

What makes me happy about this art is that the birds no longer have to go far to fetch water. While I place this drinker in their room, they are watching cautiously their nest:

FINAL SCORE:

My mission the next few days is to capture the moment when you interact with your new fresh water store in your own home. I'm waiting excited.

Thanks for reading me. You can do this simple step by step. It will be until another opportunity.
