Hello everyone! I am back to continue sharing my cartoon series "Miscellaneous Animals". In today's installment I present you the Harpy Eagle.
It is the largest species of birds of prey, native to Latin America, found in Venezuela and Brazil. Its body can reach 1m in height and its wings 2m in span, the females being larger than the males (the latter being more agile and faster). The head is white and has a very characteristic and exuberant crest being the only one of this species whose plumage is greyish, the rest of its body turns to a darker grey, the plumage under the wings and the torso is white, its beak is curved and very strong, the claws are very developed (up to 7cm in the back finger). Its aerodynamic anatomy allows it to manoeuvre through the trees in a precise and lethal manner and it is capable of reaching raptorial flights of up to 200km.
At the end of this series of drawings I will make a selection of animal models to portray them in a more detailed graphic work where I will also talk about the selected species in more detail.
