One of my artworks, "Shadow Boxing" has been listed on Artsy.net. Artsy is an online platform for discovering, buying and selling fine art. What sets this site apart from the never ending art platforms offering to sell your art is, artists can NOT create an account on it.

Only art dealers or galleries can list and sell artwork on the site. This immediately raises the quality of the artwork by excluding the hobby artists and thus making it more interesting for serious art collectors.

I saw the site launch some years ago. It has now grown to be one of, if not the premier site for online art sales. Much of its success is because it started as an online platform, and not as a physical gallery or auction house attempting to adapt to the internet.

About the Painting

As I'm interested in Jungian psychology, I wanted to create a painting around the concept of the Shadow. All of the repressed, ignored and denied parts of ourselves are buried in our subconscious and have an autonomous life of their own, often breaking out when we are triggered. This is the Shadow. It is the part of our consciousness that is our saboteur, sneaking up on us from behind. We cannot directly "see" our Shadow, but when notice things in others that we dislike, or aggravate us, this confronting the behaviours in ourselves that we deny.
