Hace unos cuantos días compartí en una publicación el paso a paso en la elaboración de una Guacamaya en Collage, para esta oportunidad quise realizar algo un poco más “difícil” y con esto me refiero a algo que tuviera una mayor cantidad de detalles.
A few days ago I shared in a publication the step by step in the elaboration of a Macaw in Collage, for this opportunity I wanted to make something a little more "difficult" and with this I mean something that had a greater amount of details.
Muchas era mis opciones, pero la idea de realizar el rostro de un Tigre en collage me fascinó no sólo por la cantidad de detalles que posee sino también por la simetría que puede existir en los patrones de las rayas de un Tigre. Mi intención no era lograr una simetría absoluta, pero lo que sí quería lograr era que cada elemento se correspondiera con otro en proporciones más o menos similares.
Many were my options, but the idea of making a Tiger's face in collage fascinated me not only because of the amount of detail it possesses but also because of the symmetry that can exist in the patterns of the stripes of a Tiger. My intention was not to achieve absolute symmetry, but what I did want to achieve was that each element corresponded to another in more or less similar proportions.

Apenas me planteo la idea de la figura que quiero realizar en un collage lo primero que suelo hacer es buscar en las revistas los colores principales de la figura. Y no sólo colores, sino también texturas. Me gusta tomarme me tiempo para realizar esto antes de comenzar a elaborar el collage porque me permite tener un mayor orden dentro de lo que hago.
As soon as I get the idea of the figure I want to make in a collage, the first thing I usually do is look for the main colors of the figure in magazines. And not only colors, but also textures. I like to take my time to do this before starting to make the collage because it allows me to have a greater order within what I do.
Luego, realizo el dibujo. Dependiendo de la figura a veces los detalles dentro del dibujo los considero necesarios y otras veces no, por lo que sólo me basta con dibujar la silueta únicamente. En este caso, por ejemplo, como quería lograr cierta simetría en el rostro el detalle de las rayas negras del tigre alrededor de los ojos eran importantes.
Then, I make the drawing. Depending on the figure sometimes I consider the details inside the drawing to be necessary and other times not, so I just draw the silhouette only. In this case, for example, since I wanted to achieve a certain symmetry in the face, the detail of the black stripes of the tiger around the eyes was important.
De resto no hay mucho que explicar, porque todo lo que queda es: rasgar, recortar y pegar. El último paso es realizar el fondo y a diferencia del collage anterior en esta oportunidad quise tener un fondo más “uniforme” y no tan llamativo.
There is not much else to explain, because all that is left is: rip, cut and paste. The last step is to make the background and unlike the previous collage in this opportunity I wanted to have a more "uniform" and not so striking background.

Creo que mi parte favorita de este collage son las rayas del Tigre. No parecen recortes de una revista, más bien da la sensación de que la fotografía fue tratada en algún programa de edición para incorporar las rayas digitalmente. Esto es lo maravilloso de jugar con los colores y texturas de las hojas de revista.
Y hablando de las rayas en el pelaje de los tigres, ¿sabías que este patrón de rayas es único en cada ejemplar? Además, sirve para la identificación de cada tigre en particular…serían algo así como la “huella dactilar” de cada tigre…interesante, ¿cierto?
I think my favorite part of this collage is the stripes of the Tiger. They don't look like magazine clippings, but rather give the impression that the photograph was treated in some editing program to incorporate the stripes digitally. This is the wonderful thing about playing with the colors and textures of the magazine pages.
And speaking of the stripes on the tiger's fur, did you know that this pattern of stripes is unique to each issue? Also, it serves for the identification of each particular tiger...they would be something like the "fingerprint" of each tiger...interesting, right?
