The man walked along the alley and kept looking back. Any casual observer could have the feeling that he was afraid of something or someone. But there were no passers-by around, only the emptiness of the night city, barely illuminated by rare roadside lanterns, pressed down with its weight and did not allow you to relax. The man quickened his pace and soon broke into a run. He looked back several times and for some reason exclaimed loudly, as if fearing an invisible pursuer. A sudden flash appeared at the place where the unlucky passerby was and he suddenly disappeared, as if he had vanished into oblivion. A faint breeze stirred a single leaf on an autumn chestnut tree and nothing said that even a couple of seconds ago someone was on the street at all...

Но прохожих вокруг не было, лишь пустота ночного города, едва освещённая редкими придорожными фонарями, давила своей тяжестью и не позволяла расслабиться. Человек ускорил шаг и вскоре перешёл на бег. Он несколько раз оглянулся и отчего-то громко воскликнул, словно страшась невидимого преследователя. Внезапная вспышка возникла на том месте, где находился незадачливый прохожий и тот вдруг исчез, будто растворился в небытие. Слабый ветерок колыхал одинокий лист на осеннем каштановом дереве и ничто уже не говорило о том, что ещё пару секунд назад на улице вообще кто-то находился...
Sometimes I would not mind if such a majestic, huge bird would steal me from the streets.
