In those bright days when I studied at art school, the choice of materials for artists was extremely small in stores. Perhaps things were different in the central cities, but it was simply impossible to buy good paints, brushes or paper in our provincial corner.
Now, remembering how we had to get out of it to embody all our ideas in creativity, I can't help smiling, because today, for example, there is just a huge selection of different cardboard, craft paper or different types of pastels for working with pastels.
For example, this work is done on green paper. I just can't imagine how I would draw the same work with only a white base available. As a result, the picture looks bright, vibrant and lively.
В те далёкие светлые времена, когда я учился в художественной школе, выбор материалов для художников был в магазинах крайне невелик. Возможно в центральных городах дело обстояло иначе, но в нашем провинциальном уголке купить хорошие краски, кисти или бумагу было просто невозможно.
Сейчас, вспоминая то, как нам приходилось выкручиваться, чтобы воплощать все свои идеи в творчестве, я невольно улыбаюсь, потому что сегодня, например, для работы с пастелью существует просто огромный выбор разного картона, крафтовой бумаги или разных видов самой пастели.
Например, вот эта работа выполнена на зелёной бумаге. Я просто не представляю, как бы я рисовал ту же самую работу, имея в наличии только белую основу. В итоге, картина смотрится ярко, насыщенно и живо.
I can relate to the struggles of not accessing art materials. In my B.A days I used to buy materials from other neighboring town/city.
There's another problem here. In the 80s, there sells not so much of art materials in any our stores at all )
That's really bad... It's good things are changing now.
