Hello friend of @theanimerealm I bring you a post about an analysis of the character of Levi Ackerman, one of the main characters of the anime and manga Shingeki no kioji, I want to inform you that the post contains Spoilers in case you haven't seen the series. Let's begin.

Levi Ackerman, also referred to as Captain Levi, is the captain of the Special Operations Squadron of the Exploration Corps and is known as Humanity's Strongest Soldier. He is a person of short stature and thin but flexible physique, this being an advantage when using the three-dimensional maneuvering equipment, allowing him to have greater speed and agility. His hair is short and straight, keeping his temples and nape shaved. His eyes are small, thin, and gray. He is characterized by his permanent skeptical expression which seems to be unalterable

This last one being a very representative characteristic in Levi which tells us a lot about his personality given that we notice an emotional detachment of Levi with the world, it seems that he does not care much about what happens around him and few things alarm him, Levi is a serious person with a firm character and clear ideas, he feels great respect for discipline and is a conscript with enormous potential to be a leader since his orders are always clear and precise without anyone daring to question him. authority

His seriousness and coldness convey that kind of respect, especially this first factor. Being someone of few words and who very rarely expresses his feelings, he knows perfectly well the responsibility that comes with managing a group of soldiers and that, depending on how his orders are, can lead those soldiers to certain death. Here we talk a little about the denial and repression of emotions that Levi suffers throughout the series. Although at this point I want to specify that it is a defensive psyche response that we see not only in the captain but also in many other characters in this manga. This is due to the constant stress and high anxiety that is handled in this world, very similar to what happens in the Walking Dead series.

In Attack on Titan, it's very rare for someone to feel unsafe. This increases even more if you're part of the Exploration Corps, since your life could end painfully at any moment, just like that of your companions and even your family. These dark thoughts are what make our protagonists defensively, mostly taking a position of repressing their emotions, becoming even cold and inexpressive so as not to suffer so much. In this context, obviously, there are cases in which this doesn't happen, and on the contrary, we see how they overflow emotionally and go into shock or a state of panic

But having specified this point, I continue with the explanation of Levi. We know little about Levi's childhood. But among other things, we know that he is the son of a prostitute and that on many occasions she was encouraged not to have the baby. However, she loved her son very much after having him and unfortunately lost her life to a strange illness when she was young. This caused several consequences in Levi's life. One of them is the adaptation that he had to undergo in order to fend for himself: eating from his own work and taking advantage of his abilities. As a result of this type of life, he gained several skills in his later life, such as Soldier

For example, Levi is a genius at using three-dimensional maneuvers. Many civilians have commented that he is as powerful as 100 soldiers together. Unlike the other soldiers, he uses his two sabers in a different way than the traditional one: the one on the left points up and the one on the right points down, forming a complete circle that is positioned diagonally. When propelled by gas and spinning, he allows him to land multiple effective cuts on his targets at high speed. His ability is such that he was able to forcefully disable Annie in her Titan form. That is, a 14 m Titan.

These peculiarities tell us about a person with different perceptions than the common one and a high level of creativity since he does not fit into the established scheme with which all the soldiers worked but rather personalizes the tools in his own way with which he feels most comfortable so that he performs at 100% in addition to his great skills with the three-dimensional maneuvering equipment he is considered a genius someone who knows how to make decisions under pressure and not fall into panic capable of analyzing the situation and finding a solution that on several occasions has saved him and his companions from danger also has a great mental and firm capacity and we see this ability on more than one occasion in the anime and manga where in different situations in which anyone would faint or simply block Levi and shows an impressive strength and impetus well and at this point we can begin to name a quite visible disorder in Captain Levi which is his OCD obsessive compulsive disorder obsessive compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent and persistent intrusive thoughts that They produce anxiety, anxiety, fear, or worry, and repetitive behaviors called compulsions aimed at reducing the associated anxiety. Levi's obsession is cleanliness and health, and his compulsion is having to do everything constantly. He even goes so far as to clean his sword in the middle of a fight just so it wouldn't be dirty. This disorder can be understood given Levi's upbringing, imagining that he lived in a highly polluted environment with high amounts of trash and filth the whole time. This was an extremely aversive stimulus for little Levi. It later became his priority in life, constantly cleaning his house and imposing this culture on all his squads, constantly checking if they complied with the cleanliness he ordered. This added characteristic of Levi's.

It is said that this he is happy every time he finds a new cleaning product on the other hand it is known that Levi rests very little between two and three hours a day which we can intuit is a consequence as I said before of the lifestyle he leads and here I want to talk about other possible disorders that Levi may suffer from and although I am not 100% sure that he suffers from them some of the symptoms and consequences I am sure that he has experienced them the first of them is not exactly classified but it has to do with everything that a soldier experiences in the post-war period if symptoms such as anxiety, anguish, stress, insomnia and depression are those that later lead to the next disorder which is post-traumatic stress disorder an explosive cocktail for those who suffer from it this pathology especially affects soldiers who have participated in international missions there are invisible wounds that are more difficult to heal and these are more hard

A former soldier tells us that after living through a war, this post-traumatic stress is caused by experiences in which the soldier, in this case Levi, is on the verge of death or witnesses an imminent danger that ends the lives of his comrades and friends. Regardless of the level of coldness, emotional disinterest, or emotional detachment, it is possible that a person with a normal psyche will not be strongly affected by this fact. Related to this point, which is one of the dramas that this character develops, Levi faces the fact that all the Titans he has killed at some point were people, which is quite bizarre given that he killed Titans in a cold and painless way because he recognized them as a threat. superhuman but realizing that these are simply humans who have punished which did not even choose their destiny is as if he had been murdering defenseless people without knowing it and here many who do not empathize with the plot of the series probably do not fully understand it and that is why I will try to be specific

Captain Levi is a man of strong and extremist criteria, he has great respect for Erwin as a leader and follows his orders without agreeing at times, he transmits this respect to his subordinates and probably that is the key to his success as a soldier and as a captain, Levi becomes a soldier because he believes that even in an extremely unbalanced world there can be a balance and even if the circumstances are desperate he believes that there can be justice now imagine that a person with this type of hypermoral as great as the faith of a believer and so convinced of his work that this is the only motivation to continue fulfilling it, even when most of his friends and colleagues have died, they tell him that his job is not delivering justice but on the contrary that his actions were those of a murderer who has ended an extraordinary percentage of lives and of course. Anyone might think that if someone is transformed into a titan they are no longer a human being but in Levi's perception there are Titans like Eren or Annie who can return to their human form and if this is the case with the majority and it is only that they have not found a way to Reverting to his Titan form turns him into a ruthless monster.

This conflict, as I narrate, developed within the current plot of the manga and the anime, and its psychological consequences for Levi will likely have great repercussions. This is not a point to underestimate, given that the emotional development of the characters in this series is quite representative.
Well, that's it for the post, analyzing this charismatic character from Attack on Titan. If you'd like to see an analysis of your favorite character, you can tell me and give me your opinion.
