I decided to watch this short movie because its animation seemed really well-done and intriguing. The story is set in the future, where people can apply all sorts of modifications to their bodies in order to make them more capable, especially when surviving against deadly enemies.
In this way, the setting is similar to that of Ghost in the Shell, but the story is much less philosophical and deep. In Mardock Scramble, the main character is a teenage girl. Have in mind this is a story exclusively for adults because there were a few scenes of very explicit animated sex.
Since this is a dystopian world, this young girl is forced to work as a prostitute. She is used to being disrespected and lied to, and soon at the beginning of the movie she gets into deep trouble but fortunately is rescued by a skilled doctor.
It will be this doctor that will change the life of this girl forever. He will save her life by using advanced technological modifications that will increase her physical habilities, turning her into what could be easily considered a kind of superhuman.
However, the first movie, which is the only one I have watched so far, doesn't show her full potential. In fact, at the end of the film, we see her being overpowered by a far more capable and experienced individual. The movie ends but the fight continued so I guess the first thing I will see when watching the second movie is the continuation of this fight.
This is a corrupt world, so despite the fact she is completely innocent, she will have to face a lot of bad people in order for her to stop being a victim and prevent the general havoc from continuing.
If you like anime from the action genre, this trilogy looks promising. It isn't as good as Ghost in the Shell but trust me that it is well worth the watch. The quality of the animation is extremely high and the plot is good enough.

The worst
- It doesn't have a very deep topic to explore.
- The dialogues could have been better.
