Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran en este precioso fin de semana? Yo, particularmente, me encuentro bien, con energías para afrontar el día.
Hablando de este día, hoy les vengo a hablar de un manga/anime que fue totalmente olvidado con el paso del tiempo, lo cual es una lástima por la calidad de sus dibujos, el diseño de personajes e, incluso, la historia. La gente debería recordar esta obra con cariño, pero la verdad es que se habla muy poco de ella en la actualidad. En su momento, podría decirse que era relativamente popular, aunque no al nivel de competir con obras como Naruto o Bleach. Porque sí, estamos hablando de un shonen clásico, puro y duro (de esos que superaban los 200 capítulos).
Yo me animé a leerlo porque me acordé de él. Nunca lo había visto como tal, pero me gustaba el diseño de los personajes. Mi único acercamiento había sido a través de un juego para Nintendo DS. La verdad, no sé cómo lo hice, pero logré pasármelo a pesar de estar en japonés. Supongo que querer es poder. Era uno de esos RPG clásicos. Luego, al leer el manga, entendí de qué trataba la historia, qué batallas ocurrían y en qué arcos. Fue una experiencia más que interesante comprender todo después de aproximadamente 10 años.
Batallas y acción que gustarán a más de uno, un opening demasiado bueno y, sobre todo, un protagonista que, aunque algo cansino, resulta bastante humano.
Sin más dilación, hablemos un poco acerca de Katekyō Hitman Reborn!.

Speaking of which, today I’d like to talk about a manga/anime that has been largely forgotten over time—which is a shame, given the quality of its artwork, character designs, and even its story. People ought to remember it fondly, but the truth is, it’s rarely discussed these days. Back in its day, you could say it was relatively popular, though never quite on the same level as titans like Naruto or Bleach. Yes, we’re talking about a classic, no-frills shonen (the kind that ran for over 200 chapters).
I decided to read it because I suddenly remembered it. I’d never properly watched or read it before, but I’d always liked the look of the characters. My only prior experience with it had been through a Nintendo DS game—and honestly, I’ve no idea how I managed to finish it despite it being entirely in Japanese. I suppose where there’s a will, there’s a way. It was one of those old-school RPGs. Later, when I read the manga, I finally understood the plot, the battles, and the story arcs. It was a fascinating experience piecing it all together after nearly a decade.
Plenty of action and fights to satisfy fans, an absolutely brilliant opening theme, and—above all—a protagonist who, though a bit grating at times, feels refreshingly human.
Without further ado, let’s talk a bit about Katekyō Hitman Reborn!.

El anime nos sitúa en la piel de Tsuna, un joven conocido en su escuela por ser cobarde y huir de todo, lo que lo convierte en víctima de bullying y lo lleva a pensar que jamás tendrá oportunidad con la chica que le gusta. Su vida da un giro de 180 grados cuando descubre que pertenece a la mafia y está destinado a ser su próximo líder. Para entrenarlo, llega Reborn, un bebé que, pese a su apariencia, es un sicario experto. Esto desencadena situaciones hilarantes —especialmente por el uso de la Bala de la Última Voluntad, que suele dejar a Tsuna en ropa interior pero lo llena de valor para enfrentar sus miedos.
Un detalle clave (tanto en el manga como en el anime) son los primeros capítulos: notarás que están centrados en la comedia. Hay un punto donde la fórmula repetitiva puede cansar, pero son esenciales para conocer a los personajes. No recomiendo saltárselos, pues hay un plot twist crucial que solo se aprecia al verlo todo.
La dinámica cambia radicalmente con la aparición del villano Mukuro Rokudo —un personaje con un diseño espectacular—, a quien Tsuna deberá derrotar para rescatar a un amigo. A partir de aquí, la historia abandona la comedia y se sumerge en acción constante durante los siguientes arcos.
The anime follows Tsuna, a timid boy infamous at school for his cowardice and habit of running from trouble. Bullied and convinced he’ll never win over his crush, his life takes a 180-degree turn when he learns he’s heir to a mafia dynasty. Enter Reborn, a baby who—despite his appearance—is a lethally skilled hitman tasked with training him. Their dynamic fuels absurdly funny scenarios, particularly thanks to the "Bullet of Last Will", which often leaves Tsuna in his underwear but paradoxically emboldens him to face his fears.
A key observation (for both manga and anime) is the early chapters/episodes: they’re heavily comedy-focused. While the repetitive gags may test your patience, they’re essential for character development—and skipping them means missing a crucial plot twist that only lands if you’ve endured the setup.
The tone shifts dramatically with the arrival of Mukuro Rokudo, a visually striking antagonist Tsuna must defeat to save a friend. From this point onward, the series ditches slapstick for relentless action across all subsequent arcs.

Katekyō Hitman Reborn! destaca enormemente por sus personajes secundarios. A diferencia de sus competidores, donde el protagonista suele ser siempre el más poderoso, aquí cada personaje debe librar sus propias batallas para demostrar su valía dentro de la mafia. Esto hace que puedas elegir fácilmente a tu favorito y estar seguro de que tendrá su momento icónico, uno que quedarás grabado en tu memoria.
Un ejemplo perfecto es Lambo, uno de mis personajes preferidos. En su batalla, cuando todo parece perdido, usa la Bazooka del Tiempo contra sí mismo dos veces, transformándose en su versión futura de 20 años. La aparición es simplemente épica: pasamos de un bebé llorón a un hombre imponente y poderoso.
Sin duda, mi arco favorito es el del viaje en el tiempo, donde vemos las versiones futuras de todos los personajes que conocemos hasta ese momento. Además, descubrimos si Tsuna logra su objetivo o si, como es de esperar, se encuentra sumido en problemas (spoiler: ocurre lo segundo).
He escuchado que, según algunos lectores, el arco final decae porque se pierde el desarrollo de Tsuna, el cual es notable a lo largo del manga. Sin embargo, hasta el tomo 29 (hasta donde leí), su evolución es clara: pasa de ser un chico miedoso a alguien serio y centrado en proteger a quienes ama. Aunque no quiere ser parte de la mafia, su motivación para luchar radica en proteger a su familia a toda costa.
Katekyō Hitman Reborn! stands out remarkably for its supporting cast. Unlike its competitors where the protagonist is always the most powerful, here each character must fight their own battles to prove their worth within the mafia. This means you can easily pick your favourite character knowing they'll get an iconic moment that'll stay with you forever.
A perfect example is Lambo, one of my personal favourites. In his battle, when all seems lost, he uses the Time Bazooka on himself twice, transforming into his 20-year-old future version. The reveal is absolutely epic - we go from a crying baby to a formidable, powerful man.
Without question, my favourite arc is the future timeline story, where we see grown-up versions of all the characters we've come to know. Plus, we discover whether Tsuna achieves his goal or - as you might expect - finds himself in deeper trouble (spoiler: it's the latter).
I've heard some readers feel the final arc falters as Tsuna's character development, so prominent throughout the manga, gets sidelined. However, up to volume 29 (where I stopped reading), his growth is clear: he evolves from a fearful boy into someone serious and determined to protect those he loves. Though he never wanted to be part of the mafia, his motivation to fight comes from safeguarding his family at all costs.

En conclusión, estamos ante un shonen que, en cuanto a desarrollo de personajes, podría considerarse superior a Naruto o Bleach (aunque no puedo decir lo mismo de One Piece, cuyo worldbuilding es excelente). Quiero recalcar que deberían darle una oportunidad, ya sea viendo el anime o leyendo el manga. Yo opté por la segunda opción porque no sé qué tan bien ha envejecido la adaptación animada ni si tiene mucho relleno.
Recordemos que este anime es de los que se veían en YouTube en aquella época (ahora imposible, debido al estricto copyright que protege la marca). Es muy antiguo, y aunque un primo siempre me lo recomendaba, lo ignoré. Lo admito: me arrepiento de no haberlo visto antes.
Ahora solo espero que tenga un buen final. Sigo a la espera de que salgan los capítulos con la retraducción, para poder disfrutar la obra como merece y no con esas traducciones fanmade tan antiguas que, siendo sinceros, son bastante malas.
En mi sistema subjetivo de puntuación, le otorgo un sólido 8/10. Es uno de los mejores shonen que podrás disfrutar, repleto de momentos épicos, batallas extraordinarias y un protagonista que te recordará siempre que debes dejar atrás el miedo y llenarte de determinación para alcanzar lo que anhelas.

In conclusion, we're looking at a shonen that I could easily consider superior in terms of character development compared to Naruto or Bleach - I can't say the same about One Piece because that series' worldbuilding is excellent.
I also want to emphasise that you should give it a chance, whether by watching the anime or reading the manga. I chose the second option because I don't know how well it's aged or if it has too much filler. You see, this is one of those anime we used to watch on YouTube back in the day - completely impossible now because the copyright on this franchise is brutal. It's really old. I remember my cousin always recommended it to me - I regret not watching it, I admit.
Right now, what I'm hoping for is that it has a good ending, because I'm still waiting for the re-translated chapters to come out so I can properly enjoy the work without those old fan translations which - to be completely honest - are really bad.
In my subjective rating system, I give it a solid 8/10. One of the best shonen you'll ever enjoy, with epic moments, extraordinary battles and a protagonist who'll always remind you that you must cast aside fear and fill yourself with determination to achieve everything you've ever longed for.

Damn if it was this good why did I ever stop watching the anime.. ooooh wait I remember I found the visuals annoying and could never really bond with the characters coupled with the too much comedy for a shounen anime.
But I think I am ready to give it another go, I'll be reading the manga as well.I dont want to miss out on anything
It's just that the first few chapters are like that, pure comedy and nothing more. But when the first antagonist appears, it gets better. I also struggled with the repetitive comedy, but when it was over, I ended up having an incredible experience.

Ahh this one! My otaku homeroom teacher once recommended this anime to me because she said it's good, but unfortunately, I forgot about this one. Btw, this girl looks familiar because she kinda looks like Fuuko from Undead Unluck...or is it her?
Anyway, I was really intrigued with it because their character designs seemed so cool! Also this:

This manga was completed ages ago, hahaha. So you can read it all in one go whenever you like. What I’m waiting for is for them to finish this new edition they’re doing with an ‘official’ translation (in spanish) so I can finally finish it.
And regarding that character, I think it must be—probably some edit or something that someone added in there. Honestly, I didn’t even notice, hahaha. Here, I found another image, and she not in it.
Ok! Thank goodness because I already have a lot of ongoing mangas and manhwas that I'm following hehe so completed mangas are definitely something that I'm looking for now...

Tiempo sin pasarme por aquí. Pensaba comentar lo primero que me llamase la atención de mi feed, y bueno, fuiste tú casualmente (en serio, de momento no consigo algo que me interese en el feed). Por alguna razón el nombre de este anime resuena mucho en mi cabeza, no sé si alguna vez le di una oportunidad y me vi un capítulo, o si simplemente siento que lo he hecho, pero el nombre me trae recuerdos.
Yo personalmente no disfruto mucho de los animes que se centran en la comedia, peor si es al principio, me gusta que tengan un comienzo serio, y más si el protagonista es débil. En verdad tengo que admitir que a veces si son bastante graciosos y vale la pena darles una oportunidad. Pero.. por alguna razón, mientras más débil y más daño recibe el prota, más disfruto cuando se voltea la panqueca y se coñasea a todos, pero obviamente tiene que perder alguna vez y coger impulso again, si siempre gana es drop asegurado (o si siempre pierde, así como en un anime de basquet que me encantó y me dejó de gustar ya que el prota era god pero debía perder ajuro por el guion).
Le daré una oportunidad solo por el bebé roto que crece al usar una bazooka. Apenas pueda le echo un vistazo y te cuento que me parece.
Entonces este te va a gustar bastante, el protagonista es de esos débiles que piensas que nunca le ganaría a nadie pero conforme va avanzando la trama, va agarrando fuerza, obviamente teniendo sus bajones en cuanto a poder pero luego volviendo a subir el nivel. También hay personajes súper fuertes que piensas que nunca perderían pero que de alguna forma y otra consiguen ganarles. Y el bebé de la bazooka no es que esté tan roto pero sí es bastante épica la aparición de su versión de 20 años en el futuro, porque siendo bebé es demasiado miedoso y ya grande se le ve serio. Yo tampoco soporto eso de que un protagonista esté siempre ganando, por algo casi siempre ando evitando los Isekais, por ejemplo actualmente Solo Leveling (que sinceramente pienso que es como un SAO, con un protagonista inmortal, solo que a la gente le gusta por la animación), que es donde hay más gente de ese estilo.
A mí me enamoró Solo Leveling por alguna razón, pero ahora que lo pienso, creo que lo valoré demasiado. Creo que debería de dejarlo en "me gustó", pero recuerdo que al principio estaba desesperado por los caps y conforme fue avanzando lo fui olvidando, hasta que me vi los últimos capítulos de golpe. Ta nice, pero es como dices, es el SAO de la época. Y bueno, es un Manhwa animado y se ve chulito, waifus goty 😳
