Saludos nuevamente comunidad, hoy quise hacer un retrato con algo de surrealismo, esta vez escogiendo el mar como inspiración, algo que siempre me ha sido difícil de dibujar es el mar y jamás había pintado una OLA en mi vida, decidí ver algunas fotos de referencia e intentarlo ya que la idea me gustaba mucho, este estilo surrealista es uno de mis favoritos, aunque muy pocas veces puedo desarrollar una idea, la verdad es que no estoy contenta con el resultado a pesar de que di mi máximo esfuerzo, este dibujo paso por muchísimos cambios y aun así me hizo doler la cabeza, fue un trabajo muy difícil pero supongo que a alguien le gustara… o eso espero.

Greetings again community, today I wanted to make a portrait with some surrealism, this time choosing the sea as inspiration, something that has always been difficult for me to draw is the sea and I had never painted a WAVE in my life, I decided to see some reference photos and try it since I liked the idea a lot, this surreal style is one of my favorites, although very rarely I can develop an idea, the truth is that I am not happy with the result despite the fact that I gave my best effort, this drawing happened for many changes and still it made my head hurt, it was a very difficult job but I guess someone would like it... or so I hope.

Proceso/Process

Realice mi boceto, el boceto que ven a continuación esta modificado ya que el original tenía ramas que salían del cuello y encima de ella había un sol y debajo de ella una luna, a medida que fui avanzando deje esa idea atrás, asi que comencé a pintar usando tonos de piel muy desaturados, pensaba darle una textura suave a este rostro usando el pincel difuso, pero termine eligiendo un pincel con textura de oleo para darle un toque un poco mas rustico a los trazos, aunque realmente no se nota mucho al menos que hagas zoom en la imagen, para sus ojos elegí un color azul, este color combinaría con la temática del mar, le di forma a estos lindos ojos y agregue algunas sombras alrededor de ellos.

I made my sketch, the sketch you see below is modified since the original had branches that came out of the neck and above it there was a sun and below it a moon, as I progressed I left that idea behind, so I began to painting using very desaturated skin tones, I was going to give a soft texture to this face using the soft brush, but I ended up choosing an oil textured brush to give a little more rustic touch to the strokes, although it really is not very noticeable at least that you zoom in on the image, for her eyes I chose a blue color, this color would match the theme of the sea, I shaped these pretty eyes and added some shadows around them.

En sus mejillas dibuje unos corazones y agregue volumen pintando los bordes con un tono claro del lado izquierdo y un tono oscuro de lado derecho y asi crear un efecto de relieve, empecé a darle mas detalles al rostro, agregando luces. Ahora llego el momento de pintar las olas sobre su cabeza, estas olas fueron creadas usando el mismo pincel con textura de óleo y mezclando diferentes tonos de azules creando líneas gruesas y finas con tonos oscuros y claros para dar ese efecto de realismo, fue bastante complicado, pero me encanto como quedo la ola, sin embargo seguía viendo el dibujo algo extraño, también dibuje mar saliendo de los corazones que dibuje en sus mejillas y goteando hacia afuera.

On her cheeks I drew some hearts and added volume by painting the edges with a light tone on the left side and a dark tone on the right side and thus creating a relief effect, I began to give more details to the face, adding lights.
Now it's time to paint the waves on his head, these waves were created using the same oil texture brush and mixing different shades of blue creating thick and thin lines with dark and light tones to give that realism effect, it was quite complicated , but I loved how the wave turned out, however I kept seeing the somewhat strange drawing, I also drew sea coming out of the hearts I drew on her cheeks and dripping out.

Para el fondo tenia una idea al principio que me gustaba mucho pero termine descartando esa y otras ideas mas, después de mil intentos de hacer un fondo decente, pude finalmente elegir hacer también el mar debajo de ella, agregando también la sombra de su rostro en el agua y dejando caer las gotas de mar que salen del corazón en el mar que coloque de fondo.

For the background I had an idea at first that I liked a lot but I ended up discarding that and other ideas, after a thousand attempts to make a decent background, I was finally able to choose to also make the sea under it, also adding the shadow of her face in the water and letting the drops of sea that come out of the heart fall into the sea that I place in the background.

Finalmente descubrí cual era el problema y es que su cabeza se veía extraña con esa ola encima, pero amaba como em había quedado esa ola, puse tanto esfuerzo en ella y no quería borrarla, se me ocurrió duplicarla y modificarla en los ajustes de “transformación” para adaptar esta otra ola en el otro lado de su cabeza, debajo de esta nueva ola aplique un poco de sombra, al terminar aún seguía sin gustarme y sentí que el rostro se veía demasiado feliz, se supone que debería ser un poco mas seria su expresión como en el boceto, asi que con el efecto de licuar modifique un poco su expresión facial, ahora se veía un poco mejor, finalmente aplique algunos ajustes de colores y finalice la obra.

I finally figured out what the problem was and it was that his head looked weird with that wave on top, but I loved how that wave had turned out, I put so much effort into it and didn't want to delete it, it occurred to me to duplicate it and modify it in the "transformation" settings ” to adapt this other wave on the other side of her head, under this new wave apply a little shadow, at the end I still didn't like it and I felt that the face looked too happy, it's supposed to be a little more serious his expression as in the sketch, so with the liquefy effect I modified his facial expression a little, now it looked a little better, finally I applied some color adjustments and finished the work.

No fue nada fácil y mas en estos últimos días que me he sentido bastante desanimada, tenia una idea muy buena en mi cabeza y no me gusto del todo el resultado, pero algo que debo destacar y que si me hace feliz es que por primera vez dibuje olas del mar y me parecieron bastante hermosas, espero que les guste y que tengan un lindo dia/noche

It was not easy at all and more in these last days that I have felt quite discouraged, I had a very good idea in my head and I did not like the result at all, but something that I must highlight and that if it makes me happy is that for the first time I drew waves of the sea and they seemed quite beautiful, I hope you like it and have a nice day/night.
