Farmers and Rural Townspeople Ai Avatars for ArtStation

in Alien Art Hivelast year (edited)

This is a small sample of an ArtStation avatar pack I have been working on. I recently published an artwork / reference pack of rural and agriculture landscapes and thought a pack of rural townspeople would be a good addition to my Artstation collections.

These were created using Midjourney version 4.

The artwork / reference pack will include approximately one hundred fifty to two hundred avatars with a wide range of ages and characteristics.

So far the most difficult issue with creating these portraits is insuring there are a diverse range of skin tones and ethnicities. Normally the ai produces very generic light colored skinned people with more European facial features. I can fix this by adding prompts like "black" or "hispanic", but I shouldn't have to do that. I should get a more diverse range of Phenotypic variation without having to ask. This has been brought up to me by a few collectors as well. Recently at NFTexpoverse LA when they were browsing my ai zombie portraits. I have used prompts such as "Mexican" and "Irish" which gave me portraits of people with features of someone that could had come from those countries, but it also gave me portraits of people with colors and odd features incorporating the colors and features of those countries' flags.

There are similar issues with gender roles of career prompts, like "doctor" or "nurse". The "nurse" also often generates nurses wearing vintage style nurse outfits or accessories, like something out of a movie from the 1950s.

Without added prompts to alter the image creations, most of the farmer portraits would be people who were older adults or elderly and male. Adding prompts like "young adult", "teenager", "female", etc. would help with this issue.

Here you can see how adding prompts to alter the phenotype features such as skin tones and facial features helps to create a more diverse range of characters.

Most of these would come out as older adults already, but adding the prompt "elderly" adds more interesting wrinkles and looks. The wonky eye in this one is great.

At times using the prompt "elderly" would produce low quality eye glasses like these:

Or these.

And sometimes it would do it without adding the prompt...

Other times, the random eye glasses would come out ok.

I still need to test out more emotion prompts with these avatars, like "happy", "sad", or "angry". I have tested them out many times in general and they tend to work very well.

Even without adding any emotional prompts I can create great range of facial expressions.

Feel free to use these avatars for personal use. If you are interested in using them commercially in anyway, please visit my ArtStation collection. This artwork pack will run about $3 for basic license.
