Splinterlands FanArt | Vampire Bat Inspiration | Social Media Challenge [ENG-ESP]

Legend has it that five centuries past, a dark curse befell the vampires Mortas and Nisha because they roosted together as bats in the ruined Church of Hāleġ. The next night, when Mortas transformed back into his human form, he couldn’t find his love anywhere within the old, ruined building. His search became frantic. He overturned benches and threw aside great slabs of fallen masonry. Even when he rang upon the old church bell, she didn’t appear. He walked out into the cold night air, and it was there that he watched as a lone bat took flight from the belfry and flew away into the nearby woods, never to be seen again.

Some speak of this legend around their fires, saying that the pair should never have entered hallowed ground. Others whisper that such a coupling should be forbidden, as folklore says that vampires must not be tempted into carnal desire whilst in their animal forms, for this is sacrilege of the highest order and even vampires must adhere to the holy texts. Regardless of rumor, what was certain on that dark night, was that Mortas lost his one true love and had no knowledge of the deadly species of bat that would be spawned from that curse.

Since that terrible time, Vampire Bats have cursed the land. Large, fell beasts that descend upon unwary folk and animals alike, enveloping them in their great wings and feeding upon their blood. These creatures have been known to both strike as solitary hunters, and to work as a pack, corralling their prey into a corner before they move in to feast. Link

Cuenta la leyenda que hace cinco siglos, una oscura maldición cayó sobre los vampiros Mortas y Nisha porque se posaron juntos como murciélagos en la ruinosa Iglesia de Hāleġ. A la noche siguiente, cuando Mortas se transformó en su forma humana, no pudo encontrar a su amor en ningún lugar del viejo edificio en ruinas. Su búsqueda se volvió frenética. Volcó los bancos y tiró a un lado grandes losas de mampostería caídas. Incluso cuando tocó la vieja campana de la iglesia, ella no apareció. Salió al aire frío de la noche, y allí vio cómo un murciélago solitario levantaba el vuelo desde el campanario y se adentraba en los bosques cercanos, para no volver a ser visto.

Algunos hablan de esta leyenda alrededor de sus fuegos, diciendo que la pareja nunca debió entrar en tierra sagrada. Otros susurran que tal acoplamiento debería estar prohibido, ya que el folclore dice que los vampiros no deben ser tentados en el deseo carnal mientras están en sus formas animales, ya que esto es un sacrilegio del más alto nivel e incluso los vampiros deben adherirse a los textos sagrados. Independientemente de los rumores, lo cierto es que en aquella oscura noche, Mortas perdió a su único y verdadero amor y no tenía conocimiento de la mortal especie de murciélago que se engendraría a partir de aquella maldición.

Desde ese terrible momento, los murciélagos vampiros han maldecido la tierra. Grandes bestias que descienden sobre personas y animales incautos, envolviéndolos con sus grandes alas y alimentándose de su sangre. Some time ago I found a character in the @Splinterlands cards that was inspired by a vampire and I made a version of it and I really liked it. Now, checking again the cards section of the game, I found this Vampire Bat, which is basically a bat, so I don't know, I liked it to recreate or make a version of the character in my own style.

Hace un tiempo me encontré con un personaje en las cartas de @Splinterlands que estaba inspirado en un vampiro e hice una versión del mismo y me gusto mucho la verdad. Ahora bien, revisando nuevamente la sección de cartas en el juego, me tope con esta de Vampire Bat, que es básicamente una murciégalo, así que no se, me gusto como para recrear o hacer un versión a mi estilo del personaje.

As the original illustration is a bat and I mostly draw human characters, like portraits and so on, what I did to make my version was a kind of hybrid between a bat and a human, I didn't want to make another drawing of a vampire as I had done before, so well, I took my sketchbook and started to make the idea for my drawing.

Como la ilustración original es un murciégalo y yo lo que más dibujo son personajes humanos, como retratos o demás, lo que hice para hacer mi versión fue un tipo de híbrido entre un murciégalo y humano, no quise hacer otro dibujo de un vampiro como lo había hecho antes, así que bueno, tome mi cuaderno de dibujos y comencé a hacer la idea para mi dibujo.

I really didn't have any problems to make the sketch, as I had a very clear idea for it, everything went very smoothly. Also, I didn't know if I should add other elements to the sketch, like making the character with some fangs, making him look more like a vampire, but really with the initial sketch I did I felt great, so I decided to start working with the color work.

Realmente no tuve problemas para hacer el boceto, como tenia muy clara la idea para el mismo, en verdad todo salio muy fluidamente. Ademas, no sabia si agregar otros elementos al boceto, como que el personaje le hubiese hecho unos colmillos, asemejándolo más a un vampiro, pero realmente con el boceto inicial que hice me sentí super bien, así que decidí comenzar a trabajar con el trabajo de color.

If we look at the original illustration, it contains colors like brown, black, fuchsia or deep pink and so on, which I don't really like, but it's not the color palette I usually use in my drawings. So, to work the color in my drawing, I just focus on some colors like brown and fuchsia from the original illustration, adding blue, purple and a little bit of red to the drawing, to bring it a little bit more to the color palette that I normally use and also, taking it to my comfort zone.

Si vemos la ilustración original, contiene colores como marrón, negro, fucsia o rosado intenso y demás, que realmente no se me mal, pero no es la paleta de color que yo suelo usar en mis dibujos. Entonces, para trabajar el color en mi dibujo, solo me enfoque en algunos colores como marrón y fucsia de la ilustración original, agregando azul, morado y un poco de rojo al dibujo, para llevarlo un poco a más a la paleta de color que yo use normalmente y tambien, llevándolo mi zona de confort.

To finish with this #fanart, the last thing I had to do were some final details, like some shadows and some shines, so it would give a little more life to it. Also in this drawing I used wood colors, to enhance or give a little more contrast to some areas of color and looking at it well, it looked great, I'll be doing it with future drawings.

Para terminar con este #fanart, lo ultimo que me toco hacer fueron algunos detalles finales, como algunas sombras y algunos brillos, así le daría un poco más de vida al mismo. Ademas en este dibujo use colores de madera, para realzar o darle un poco más de contraste a algunas zonas de color y viéndolo bien, quedo super bien, lo estaré haciendo con próximos dibujos.
