Uno de los eventos más comunes con los que vivimos es el riesgo, a pesar de las medidas preventivas que consideramos, la vida no está exenta de riesgos. Todos hemos pasado por situaciones peligrosas en las que incluso nuestra propia vida se ha visto comprometida, o en el caso de personas que se han visto afectadas por una situación catastrófica, el riesgo ha implicado perder la vida.
Incluso si pensamos que somos personas que lo prevemos todo, donde ocurren accidentes, por ejemplo el riesgo siempre está latente, el primer lugar de riesgo es nuestra propia casa, somos propensos a caídas por resbalones en ocasiones que el piso de una habitación tiene agua o esta mojada, en la ducha podríamos incluso electrocutarnos con un calentador eléctrico en mal estado, una bombilla que explota por sobrecarga de luz, vernos envueltos en un incendio por un cortocircuito o una astilla caliente de la chimenea a la alfombra de la habitación, etc.
