After consultation with @hivewatchers, we have muted several (60+) accounts linked to known spammers.
Additionally, to protect our community (and Hive in general), we will no longer curate accounts on a @spaminator or @hivewatchers blacklist, nor will these accounts be eligible for any prizes/rewards issued by the Freewriters Community. This means if you are downvoted by @spaminator, do not be surprised if you are no longer curated by the @daily.prompt / @zapfic.club / @freewritehouse or @felt.buzz accounts.
If you are on a blacklist - by mistake, or because you've made a mistake in the past (who hasn't?) - you can work with @hivewatchers to get off it. They are generally very helpful and not as scary as they might at first seem (if you approach them in the right way)!

Thank you ! I love reading a lot of the posts here in Freewriters, but just recently I've started putting a few through AI-checkers (which are admittedly not perfect) just because the stories tick over into that uncanny valley zone where my spidey-senses tingle and tell me the author might not have been as human as you or I.
So blocking known spammers who just put up AI-generated posts in the hope of picking up automated votes is definitely the right thing to do. It helps look after those of us who put in the effort to think about what we're writing and try to create something genuinely original. 🙂
