Night time is ideally the time when we rest --- both our body and mind. But for Summer, her mind becomes extremely active during this time of the day. Not for good reasons, mostly.
Her thoughts either travel back to the past or make an anxious trip to the future. Sometimes, these thoughts even accompany her in her dreams. No wonder she feels tired even after getting 8 hours of sleep.
One night, Summer felt a bit more emotional than usual. Maybe it was hormones. Perhaps it was her unresolved feelings and emotions trying to get her attention. Because as good as she was in handling other people's baggages, she couldn't seem to extend the same strength and understanding towards her own.
She had all these big feelings inside of her and she didn't know what to do with them. Or maybe she did... but just didn't want to act on it.
In her visit back to the past, a familiar song started playing in her head. And although she forgot some lyrics, Summer continued to quietly sing it. She felt every word deep in her heart, and she remembered how they used to mean more than just words in a song. It made her wonder that after all these years, should she still hold on to the memories and promises that the song carries? Or was she just fooling herself into believing what her mind wanted to believe?
On the other hand, when she made a trip to the future... wherever that was, she was unsure which lens to use in looking. She, of course, wanted to see her joyful self in that timeline. She just didn't know what or who would make her heart overflow with love and happiness there.
Back to her present, with only her computer screen illuminating light in her room, Summer quickly wiped her tears as soon as they fell.
