Recuerdo cuando era pequeño, tener el generoso y muy hermoso tesoro de poder ver a mi abuela en lo que fue una de sus aficiones, que eran verdaderamente fascinantes como era el tejer, puesto que, a diferencia de algo muy movido, era algo que simplemente era sencillo, muy humilde y tranquilo, pues es algo que se elabora con mucha pero mucha paciencia y tiempo.

Pues de lo poco o nada que sé, en comparación a los grandes conocimientos que mi querida abuela tenía, era que solo hacía falta un poco de hilo, unas pocas “agujas” pues estas mas bien eran como unos pequeños bastones que albergaban el hilo y una guía, o revista que contuviera ese patrón a crear, y poco más, pues, yo era quien le sostenía el hilo y quedaba sentado a sus pies enrollando el hilo, pero para cuando estaba sola ella prefería un enrollador de bolas para facilitarle las cosas.

Este hobby, o diría yo hasta “ejercicio”, tiene mucho que ver con las matemáticas, pues todos estos patrones, son figuras que están calculadas para que mantenga una serie de “trazado” que da vida a las creaciones, puesto que aunque hay diversos “puntos”, y que con el paso del tiempo es que vamos entendiendo eso que en un principio parece solo mover las manos y las “agujas” entre los hilos para poder ir tejiendo.

Como nota final, para los que son más jóvenes o aún pueden o tienen a sus abuelas y practican esta noble actividad, les recomiendo que, si tienen un mínimo de tiempo, siéntense a su lado, disfruten de eso, que, aunque no lo crean, esos pequeños momentos valen oro, y pues es darle de una buena manera un valor incalculable a lo que son sus manos ojos y cabeza que como reloj suizo van tejiendo maravillas que se van perdiendo con el tiempo lamentablemente.

Well, the little or nothing I know, compared to the great knowledge that my dear grandmother had, was that it only took a little thread, a few "needles" as these were rather like small sticks that housed the thread and a guide, or magazine that contained the pattern to create, and little else, well, I was the one who held the thread and was sitting at her feet winding the thread, but when she was alone she preferred a ball winder to make things easier for her.

This hobby, or I would even say "exercise", has a lot to do with mathematics, because all these patterns, are figures that are calculated to maintain a series of "tracing" that gives life to the creations, since although there are several "points", and with the passage of time is that we understand that at first it seems only move your hands and "needles" between the threads to be able to go knitting.

As a final note, for those who are younger or still can or have their grandmothers and practice this noble activity, I recommend that, if you have a minimum of time, sit by their side, enjoy it, that, believe it or not, those little moments are worth gold, and it is giving in a good way an incalculable value to what are their hands, eyes and head that like a Swiss watch are weaving wonders that are lost over time unfortunately.
