5 Minute Freewrite: Wednesday - Prompt: scrubbing her eyes

Five minutes to write.

What could she write in five short minutes? Could she do it against the clock? She scrubbed her brain for some thoughts. She scrubbed the page so that it didn't look so blank. She scrubbed her eyes, and, it was only then, she saw that there was something lurking in her peripheral vision.

There was someone standing in the corner, almost lost to her. Scrubbing again, rubbing much harder this time. Her vision, if that's what it was, became so much clearer. It was a shadow of herself, but not her regular shadow. It was looking back at her and smiling. She could see its murky smile within the shadow-like form, and she knew that there was more to be seen.

Scrubbing her eyes one more time, out popped her alter ego. It was her but not her. It was a little older; a little more worn around the edges. It stepped closer towards her. It had something to say. She didn't know whether she was ready to hear, but her curiosity got the better of her.

Her alter-ego began clapping. Her smile grew and with each clap, she began to say one word, "Bravo!", and as her shadow-self finally came to stand in front of her, it told her that she had indeed found something to write about.
