The prompt this week for the ZAPFIC50 Friday challenge by @felt-buzz presented the opportunity to test the word "gallon" to see how it would make sense in the context of my story. My thoughts on the prompt is that it's a limited word used for measuring liquid amounts. The word can also refer to the size of a container used to store items. I hope my flash fiction story does the word justice.
When attempting the challenge, you must try to tell a complete a story as possible in exactly fifty (50) words.
My story is below:
It wasn't the alarm but hooves tapping on cobbled streets that stirred Melvin.
Outside his brownstone, a carriage lumbered. "Wait!" he shouted.
Coachman Oliver halted. Melvin rushed back, retrieving four mead quarts.
"Why four?" Oliver asked.
Melvin smiled.
A gallon of prophesied luck.
You. Steed; Me; and my Future Wife.

La propuesta de esta semana para el reto «ZAPFIC50 Friday» de @felt-buzz me brindó la oportunidad de explorar la palabra «galón» para ver cómo encajaría en el contexto de mi relato. En mi opinión, se trata de un término específico que se utiliza para medir cantidades de líquido. La palabra también puede referirse al tamaño de un recipiente utilizado para almacenar objetos. Espero que mi relato breve le haga justicia a la palabra.

No fue la alarma, sino el repiqueteo de los cascos sobre las calles empedradas lo que despertó a Melvin.
Frente a su casa de piedra rojiza, avanzaba pesadamente un carruaje. «¡Espera!», gritó.
El cochero Oliver se detuvo. Melvin corrió hacia atrás y volvió con cuatro jarras de hidromiel.
«¿Por qué cuatro?», preguntó Oliver.
Melvin sonrió.
Un galón de suerte profetizada.
