Skin problems are among the most worrisome symptoms in dogs and usually cause itching at first and excruciating pain if not treated.
Among the skin problems we have :
Impetigo ; Staphylococcus bacteria is an important cause of impetigo infection in puppies.
Impetigo infection is manifested by the appearance of dense pustules around small areas of the lower abdomen. These blisters usually crack and form circular areas of scaly skin.
There is no primary cause of impetigo, but if a dog's immunity is weak or has endocrine problems it can be affected by the infection. Fleas and insect stings along with food allergies or hormonal imbalances may contribute to an increased risk of developing impetigo.
There are many shampoo options available to treat this condition, however, one of the options that should be approved by your vet are benzoyl peroxide, ethyl lactate and chlorhexidine. It is usually used once or twice each week for a month.
Some topical creams that the veterinarian may prescribe can also be used, such as mupirocin, neomycin, and polymyxin.
