This is my post for #freewriters 2393 prompt run down infrastructure hosted by @mariannewest

The house that Archie Smith lived in and raised his family was an old Post Office that was no longer in use, so he bought the building and floated it from Grant to Sebastian back in the late 1920s.

He built the dock and fish house out on the end of it and opened the fish house in 1932. Everything was fine until the double 2005 hurricanes came through.

With no insurance on the buildings Archies daughter had no choice but to sell to the County. Now the County had taken down all the buildings that were still standing over the river, they built a fancy new dock with streetlights going the length of it and then put up a gate so no one can go on the dock, it has been like this for 5 years. And now there are talks about them wanting to tear down the house which is on the Register of Historic Places. The call it a run down infrastructure.

Another building that they call a run down infrastructure is the old Hurricane Harbor restaurant. It was an auto garage built in 1927. In 2009 a friend of ours opened a seafood market and restaurant in it but May 31 of this year was their last day, the city told them that they had to get out, and they were tearing it down.

There is only one building left on the riverfront it is Semblers Fish House but you can not tell if it was ever a fish house it was turned into a restaurant called Squid Lips but I do not know how long it will be there because they just built a new Squid Lips on shore by the old fish house.
