This is my post for #freewriters 2945 prompt not a carbon based lifeform hosted by @mariannewest

I thought I would check up on 31/ATLAS to see if it is still headed away from us, and it is. They say if you have a telescope or even strong binoculars, you can see it in the morning sky if you look towards Virgo, and if you know where Virgo is located.

I read that it did something strange as it got near the Sun. I would bet anything that got close to the Sun would act strange. They said it changed colors, it would be green, then turn blue. You think maybe this happened because it was getting hot. I see those colors in campfires. If it had life on it, I doubt there was not a carbon based lifeform still alive after it passed the Sun.

I wonder how they know this, but they say that as it neared the Sun, it also had high levels of CO2 and metals coming from it, and this tells them secrets about faraway galaxies. I am scratching my head on how they can do this and believe it to be true. Did they have a satellite near the Sun that could withstand that kind of heat and pick up what is in the air, or no air? How did they get close enough to tell what it is made of?

There is no need for us to worry, it will be far away from us, they said something about outside of Mar's orbit, like 170 million miles by Dec 19, that is when it will be the closest to us.

Yesterday, my daughter put up the tree and wanted to decorate it, but there were only three short strings of lights in the box, and one did not work. I told her I have more lights and they were in the cedar chest, the one with the stereo, two big speakers, and several pictures sitting on it. I told her I would get them out today.

She took everything out of the cedar chest, and the lights are not there. I have looked everywhere and can not find them. I feel bad because my daughter told me that she has been looking forward to decorating the tree, and we were in Walmart, and I thought about buying lights, but knew I had some, so I didn't buy any. Now I have to buy them. It makes me feel good that she is taking an interest in decorating, the baby steps are starting to show.

They probably used a spectrograph to detect the elements based on light frequencies they detected from their observations.
