Just yesterday in church the homilist (the preacher) told a true life story about a certain man who because of the predicaments of his life went to a fuel station with a kerg, bought ten litres of fuel, got back home, poured it completely on himself while in his room and set himself ablaze. Before the neighbours could realize what was going on, he had completely burnt to ashes. What a story! When the Catholic Priest who was the homilist finished telling the story, I was thrown into a deep reflection trying to fathom why someone could take his own life especially in such a terrible way. In my deep contemplation, it dawned on me that lots of people have committed suicide as a result of one problem or the other using various terrible means; taking in poisonous substances, the use of rope, taking overdose of pills, jumping inside a lagoon, through the use of gun, et ce tera. Taking a life is such a terrible thing to do; be it one's life or the lives of others. I have not heard of any culture or tradition of the world that considers killing or taking one's life as a good thing to do.
BUT WHY SUICIDE?
The people who committed suicide in my opinion had probably considered death as the best option to tackle the awful situations that befell them in life. Some of the reasons for suicide could be that the suicider was lied against and he feels that his image or personality cannot be reclaimed. It could also be that the sufferings or hardships of this world are pressing so hard on him and he feels there is no other way out. It could be out of depression caused by the death of a loved one or other pitiable situations of life, it could as well be as a result of poverty. As an African, I will not completely rule out diabolism as a cause of suicide. (this is a topic for another day) The list is endless. Whatever the reason may be, I am here to make one thing very clear.
NO SOLUTION WITHOUT A PROBLEM
By this, I mean that the concept of solution will be an illusion if problem is not a reality. Put differently, solutions exist because of the existence of problem or difficulties. People should always be conscious of the fact that problems, difficulties, negative occurrences, evils, and the likes are part of human existence. Also, the privation of good is a reality in our world. Be that as it may, no matter the hefty nature of the predicaments in one's life, suicide is not an option. The solutions to the problems of life may not always be immediate but certainly will be realized someday. I dare to say without considering the concept of fallacy that there is a solution to every problem and suicide is never and should not be an option. SAY A BIG NO TO SUICIDE.

This is really a sad story .. I'm still trying to imagine what could have happened to the person that made him/her conclude that burning to death is the best solution 😭😭
That must have really been a horrific death!
Well, I hope we won't be faced with challenges of life that will make up conclude that suicide is the solution!

The story is indeed a very sad one. I wonder what his problems must have been that made him take his own life in sure a cruel way, too bad.
Suicide like you have said is not an option no matter what, we only have the right to take life when we can give it and that's why it's unforgivable for any man to take his own life.
