Short Story 001 : First Love 💜

I wrote my first love letter as I recalled how our love story started. I am preparing to give him my hand crafted gifts since I wanted to surprise him. I smile as I remember his cute dimple every time he smiles. It's our special day tomorrow and I know that he's quite busy with his upcoming basketball tournament. I put the letter in the scented envelope and wrapped the scrapbook I made. It's 10 in the evening already when my phone beeps.

A message from him.

Him: "Hey baby, are you still up?" Me: "yes b! I'm about to sleep." Him: "okay baby. Btw, I can't pick you up tomorrow. I have to attend our game :( I miss you already baby. As soon as this whole tournament ends, I'll make it up to you. I love you!❤️"

I sighed. I was looking forward to our special day but I guess I have no choice but to celebrate it alone.

Me: "no worries B, take care always. Love you too! Goodnight b. 🌜😘 Him: I love you most! Goodnight my baby. 😘

The following day.

"We have a followup practical exam tomorrow as part of our midterms. Don't forget to study okay! Class dismissed!" our professor uttered.

It's 3:30 in the afternoon already and the last text I received from him was just "good morning beautiful!" nothing else. He completely forgets about it. I sighed. I wanted to cry as I packed all my things and put it in my bag.

"Where are we going friend?" My gay friend Erica asked. Since it is the first day of our midterm exam, all of my friends are dying to relax and to eat something delicious. I sighed again. "Whatever you guys wanted" I frowned. My friend Sam noticed it and asked. "You seem sad, what's wrong?" She asked. I just sighed as we went out of the classroom and started walking towards the stairs. "Mikee forgot our monthsary" I answered Sam while trying to smile.

"Maybe he's just pre-occupied with the upcoming basketball tournament" Haze tried to cheer me up. As we slowly went down the stairs, I heard people screaming cheerfully. It seems that there's a celebrity outside. As I was closer to the ground already and could see what they were screaming about, I saw him. Smiling from ear to ear, flexing his dimples, carrying a bouquet of blue roses and a cute teddy bear.

My tears started dropping, the person inside my head the entire day was smiling from ear to ear wearing a white polo like a dashing prince. All along, I really thought that he forgot but he planned all of this. I slowly walked towards him and I hugged him.

He smiled and hugged me back and whispered into my ear "I love you baby, happy first". The crowd was cheering and I could hear all my friends teasing us. "You two get a room!" Erica shouted. I slowly freed him from my hug and he handed over the bouquet and the teddy bear. He wiped away my tears and told me "You cried because you thought I forgot it? Oh babe, I will never forget the day you agreed to be my girlfriend. How could I? When you were my crush for a long time.." he smiled and pinched my nose.

I smiled.. What a beautiful memory I have of my first love. "Honey, have you seen the blue box under my, . . Oh there it is!" my husband grabbed the box full of the love letters I sent him. "It's been twenty years but it seems just yesterday when we celebrated our first month hon." I smiled and hugged him.
