The odyssey of a shipwrecked man

He slowly became aware of the light, perhaps the cold night had numbed him a little, he saw flashes in the fog that still abounded in the morning, and like a puzzle, he began to see shapes swaying in the wind, the wink of the flash hit his eyes, he still could not visualize clearly, but his imagination was already moving forward, he slowly raised his head, rubbing his eyes to see if the horizon became clearer.

—It's a boat, I must be dreaming, it's not possible, —he said to himself.

The same current carried him away, showing him that boat that seemed like a mirage.

—Help me! Down here!

But no one came out to answer his call, his small raft was hitting the wood of the boat due to the swaying of the waves, he tried to hold on, and his hands fluttered with desperation.

—Help! Help me!

On one side he saw a rope and pushed the raft with the splashing of his legs.

—I have to get there, why doesn't anyone get out? God have mercy on me, help me!

The movement of the water did not let him reach the rope, but he kept trying, his eyes seemed to pop out of their sockets so as not to lose that rope, until he felt it between his fingers, the stiff fibers made him bleed, but he had it, now he had to climb, he hoped his strength would not fail him, he saw his raft hit against the boat and was moving away, he began to climb, he had to get to the top.

He felt a hand lift him up and let him fall on the deck, the breeze was blowing strong, but up above the sun looked like a block of burning wood, he ended up being exhausted and time was passing.

He saw the two men standing there, passing a bottle to each other and laughing, talking about a woman.

—Did you see her Ralph? She was a sorceress, it couldn't be otherwise, everyone went crazy with her beauty.
—hahaha! Captain, that's why they made that fight, but I understood their game and I stayed on top of the bow, everyone was entering the hold.
—Yes, one by one they came in, crazy drunks, they went in, but nobody came out, that's why I went in, to see what was going on and I found a monster.

—And what did you do, Captain? Here's the bottle, have another drink...
—I unsheathed my sword and when he lunged at me I blew his arms off he stepped back and there was the woman again, she was the most beautiful thing I had seen in a long time, I approached and plunged the sword into his heart, the wind shook the ship.

—That's when I shouted: "Captain, there's a fire in the hold!
—Hey, I'm thirsty! I want some water, —said the man lying on the deck.

The two looked at the man lying there, maybe they were waiting for something to happen, but he wasn't moving.

—Shall we give him a drink, captain?
—Do it carefully, we don't know what might happen.

Ralph lifted the man's head, gave him a drink and he felt something burn inside him, it faded him and he no longer saw the glow overhead.

—Where did you come from?
—From a fishing boat, the storm caught it and turned it upside down, there were about ten of us, I don't know what the others did to each other, I was able to grab onto a piece of wood and the current carried me away.

The man stood in suspense and closed his eyes, Ralph released him.

—Captain, that woman was a sorceress! Otherwise, she couldn't move the ocean and become that thing.

The captain walked to the ship's railings and looked at the horizon, he seemed to read the signs of the wind as it swept the clouds.

—Give me another drink Ralph, that sorceress is coming for us!
The man named Ralph approached the captain.
—Now what will become of us and that man captain?
—Let him rest!

The wind moved the mast with force, the ship seemed to tilt and the sails tried to resist the onslaught, it bellowed like a wounded bull.

—Captain, I'll leave something for that man to hold on to! She's coming for us.
—It's all right Ralph, I'll have my sword ready!

The captain watched his man run to a hold, then looked down at the man lying on the deck.

—Well friend, here's this backpack, it'll come in handy, now you'll know what it's like to move.

The man, still exhausted, watched as the captain, sword in hand, awaited the confrontation, the waves seemed to become more enraged at that attitude, and he stood up and fell suddenly on the deck, he crawled to grab a block of wood and thus avoid being thrown into the water, he looked up and the storm had raged, he heard thunder and lightning split the sky, the glare showed two huge eyes, they were approaching threateningly.

The captain and his man took the rest of the bottle and tied themselves back to back, both with swords in their hands, they shouted in defiance of an enemy that the man could not see, he could barely hear a roar coming down from the sky, fear paralyzed him when he saw the lightning come over the ship and tear it apart, there was a bang and fire began to cover the ship, he held the wood and felt it fly.

When he opened his eyes, the sun was overhead and he could see a calm sea, he was holding on to the raft he had taken from the fishing boat, he realized he was on a beach, he got up, he could not believe it, he was on dry land, when he went to walk something stopped him, it was a leather backpack, the same one that man had given him before facing the storm and the boat exploded into pieces.

You described the situation very well. I felt that storm. I just wonder about that backpack..🍀♥️

Maybe that is my intention, that the reader asks himself the question: Did he dream it or did he live it? thanks for reading, greetings.

I am so curious if the woman is a sorceress and how the story continues (dream, memory of an earlier life or real?)

Thanks for joining pic1000 👍

The character of the woman is inspired by the mythological story of Circe and I wanted to play with that fantasy and for the castaway to experience it as a reality within his delirium, as a dream come true and leave that veil of mystery on the reader regarding your arrival at the beach.
