The Fist of Alwyn

Fire swirled around Jaime, the gauntlet commanding the flames with precision. With a flick of his wrist, the dragon’s breath swallowed the hordes of oncoming orcs, unleashing a choir of agony. His troops watched, their arms at their sides, as their commander dealt with the assault with ease. A few broke out into applause, and jeers of excitement, appreciating the absolute victory they had won over their foes. But a few, those who had the faculties to understand the horrors such a weapon had just unleashed, stood in fear, their hands trembling at their sides.

Jaime turned, raising both arms, gladly accepting the praise of his men.

The hordes had been slain; their bodies burnt to a crisp.

Historians would mark this event as the Frostfall Firestorm – when the kingdom of Brynmawr showed the world the power of their engineering. Jaime’s gauntlet, The Fist of Alwyn, would be recorded as the first weapon of mass destruction, whose use in warfare is now seen as a crime against humanity. Wielded with impunity for the first century of its creation, Brynmawr saw its borders grow exponentially, becoming the largest country of the South-eastern continents. The lands it conquered have been fiercely contested by their indigenous people, claiming the ‘Blue Zone’ to be theirs by birth right, following the atrocities committed by King Jaime.
