"Localizada em plena planície alentejana, a Herdade do Esporão mantém os seus limites inalterados há mais de 750 anos. A conjugação das condições geológicas, dos solos pobres e pedregosos e das altas amplitudes térmicas, muito sol e pouca chuva, criam o ambiente para a agricultura que potenciamos com o modo de produção integrada.
Após um Inverno seco e frio, seguiu-se uma Primavera chuvosa e um Verão com temperaturas amenas, propícias à maturação lenta e ideal destas castas. Para este vinho de lote, vinificámos cada casta indivudualmente e seleccionámos quatro das melhores castas desta colheita: a Touriga Franca pela textura, a Touriga Nacional pela estrutura, a Tinta Miúda pelo carácter elegante e o Tinto Cão pela delicadeza e densidade. Esta combinação realça a intensidade que se revela num vinho denso, rico e persistente."

"Located near Reguengos de Monsaraz, the Esporão Estate has kept its boundaries unchanged for more than 750 years. The combination of its diverse geology, poor and stony soils, high thermic amplitude, dry climate and warm ripening temperatures, create all agricultural conditions that we seek to optimize with integrated production. The dry Spring was followed by a relatively mild Summer which ensured the proper maturation of the grapes. For this batch wine, we vinified separately 4 of the best grapes of this harvest: Touriga Franca for texture, Touriga Nacional for body ans structure, Tinta Miúda for the elegant character and Tinto Cão for its fine and vibrant profile. This combination highlights the aromas of black fruit in an intense and persistent set."

The chosen dish for this special wine was the also very special Lagarada de Bacalhau from Dom Joaquim Restaurant. I'm not sure how to translate it but it's like a pie filled with codfish, smashed sweet potatoes, shrimps, etc.

Oh now that is just some some amazing stuff, all around! Almost dinner time for me, and I am just drooling over that shrimp, lol.

So I know I said the other day about wine being more expensive here, I think I should just rephrase that and say wine made here, in California is more expensive. With all that info on the bottle, that tells me that is a serious wine, and for an American wine to be that serious, maybe your looking at 30$ to start off. Probably because the land value here in California is so expensive. Thanks for posting in this new community, CHEERS!
