I think that my first time in Brazil could not have had a better place to arrive: Bahía!
Creo que en mi primera vez en Brasil no pude haber tenido mejor destino: Bahía!
Praia do Forte was my first destiny, and today I want to share with you my experience in this magical place, that has a very special in my heart.
Praia do Forte fue mi primer destino, y hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi experiencia en este lugar mágico, que tiene un corazón muy especial.
Praia do Forte is a beach located northeast of the city of Salvador de Bahía. It is a very long beach whose coast faces the Atlantic Ocean. For me, as a Caribbean woman , knowing a different sea feels like knowing another planet.
Praia do Forte es una playa ubicada al noreste de la ciudad de Salvador de Bahía. Es una playa muy larga cuya costa da al Océano Atlántico. Para mí, como mujer caribeña, conocer un mar diferente es como conocer otro planeta.
The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the feeling of such a big sky, because, being such a long coast, when it's getting dark the sky is very different at one end than at the other, on the one hand the colors are warm and on the other other cold. As an artist, This made me think about the use of cold and warm colors in the same palette in a piece. Observation is perhaps the best way I've learned about color.
Lo primero que noté al llegar fue la sensación de un cielo tan grande, ya que al ser una costa tan larga, cuando está oscureciendo el cielo es muy diferente en un extremo que en el otro, por un lado los colores son cálidos y por otro otro frío. Como artista, esto me hizo pensar en el uso de colores fríos y cálidos en una misma paleta en una pieza. La observación es quizás la mejor manera que he aprendido sobre el color.
So, after arriving, Jody and I took a walk around the town. Yellow flowers are my favorite, no matter what kind of flowers they are, I love them. So I picked them up on the way and got to know the town.
Así, después de llegar, Jody y yo tomamos una caminata por el pueblo. Las flores amarillas son mis favoritas, no importa qué tipo se flores sean, me encantan. Así que las estuve recogiendo en el camino y conociendo el pueblo.
Sleeping with the sound of the sea is one of the most relaxing things I have experienced since childhood, and one that I am sure I will enjoy forever.

Praia do Forte is a beautiful place, very attractive for tourists due to its natural beauty, its architecture, and its attention to tourists.

These particular friends were one of the funniest things, especially was when the pigeons came and scared them away, lol.

I have a particular love for fishing villages. My father's family is from a fishing village and no matter where it is, these places bring me an irreplaceable sense of familiarity.
Yo siento un amor particular por los pueblos pesqueros. Mi familia paterna es de un pueblo pesquero y no importa donde sea, estos lugares me traen una sensación de familiaridad irreemplazable.

We were lucky enough to be there during the gastronomic week, where each restaurant offered a special dish by a guest chef, an interpretation of traditional food.
I have to admit that the diverse gastronomy of Brazil is one of the things I enjoyed the most.
Tuvimos la suerte de estar durante la semana gastronómica, cada restaurante ofrecía un plato especial por un chef invitado, una interpretación de comida tradicional.
Tengo que admitir que la gastronomía tan diversa de Brasil es una de las cosas que más disfruté.

The García D'Avila castle was without a doubt a destination that I could not miss in Praia do Forte. Built between 1551 and 1624, it is the first Portuguese building in colonial Brazil, inhabited by the same family for 10 generations, who controlled a large percentage of Brazil's trade at the time.
El castillo García D'Avila era sin duda un destino que no me podía perder en Praia do Forte. Construido entre 1551 y 1624, es la primera edificación portuguesa en el Brasil colonial, habitada por la misma familia durante 10 generaciones, quienes dominaban un gran porcentaje del comercio de Brasil en la época.
