Taste testing on Mt Tambourine

in Pinmapple2 years ago (edited)

Visiting the much talked about rural scenic and tourist attractions of Mt Tambourine has always been on my to do list, and as life pans out, the opportunity arose in the guise of a family birthday celebration. I am writing this post under the fun tag of #marketFriday as well as the travelling tag #haveyoubeenhere to share a Queensland hotspot destination you might like to visit one day.

Have you been here? Or perhaps you have been here? However, if you have not, Mt Tambourine in Queensland situated an hour south of Brisbane and an hour west of the Gold Coast. The multitude of different entrepreneurial businesses like the Glow Worm caves, bush walking, restaurants, wineries, breweries and gin distilleries are designed to attract locals and happy visitors. All ages are very well catered for.

Our group plan was to relax, soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the view the decision and taste test at a boutique gin distillery and at a boutique brewery.

A new gin distillery established in 2020 called Cauldron was the first stop before lunch and relatively empty of tourists at this stage of the day.

The quaint oldish caravan parked out the front may be a mobile catering will come to you for special parties and events or is designed to cater for extra crowds at the Cauldron Distillery.

A platter of tasting a few different flavoured gins covering floral, savoury and fruity was bought and tested as we sat at a table under an umbrella.

The Fortitude Brewery Company was an altogether different from the Cauldron Gin Distillery as we were greeted with an immense number of adults and children who were all seeking tables to sit at for lunch. It could only be described as busy bedlam!

Waiting for a table allowed me the time to check out the Cheese Factory.

Checking out the working process of the little brewery.

Admiring the bar set-up for visitors to buy a beer or a platter of different beer for taste testing.

The 5 small glasses of beer were shared and tasted and once again we were in the car driving to the Bavarian Restaurant. The World War 1 fighter plane sitting out the front was an obvious touristy marker that we had reached our destination. The famous Red Baron, known in English as the Baron von Richthofen. It is said that he is still known as the ace of all flying aces all time.

The atmosphere reminded me of the German pubs and restaurants on the Romantic Road in Bavaria in December 2016.

While service was done with a smile and big portions of food were delivered to our table, the quality of the food sadly, did not measure up to the standard of delicious tasty German cooking. After 5 years I can still taste the yummy bratwurst sausages and freshly made sauerkraut.

However, I must give credit when it is due. The portions were generous and the meals were delivered quickly to the tables.

Homeward bound we went after several hours feeling highly satisfied and happy. It was a good feel day on Mt Tambourine celebrating a birthday. I plan to come back when it is not school holidays for a tour of the Glow Worm Caves for it was far too busy with lots of families this time round. And I have time up my sleeve given that I am one of the let's travel any time up my sleeve retired #silverbloggers.

So finishes my #marketFriday post this week and as always I wish to acknowledge the ever lovely and gracious @dswigle for bringing the #marketFriday community to hive.

I am finishing with one last photo of the outside of the Bavarian Restaurant as it so reminded me of the lovely country quaintness and special architecture of Germany, despite the touch of summer and Australian trees. Regrettably, the pond was looking a little sad and neglected.

The Bavarian Restaurant and grounds including a little brewery is for sale at the price of $2.4 million if anyone is interested in buying a property. It has a lot of potential with a good clean up and the ability to cook authentic German food.

Happy New Year to you!! We made it to the other side! Thank you for posting on the #MarketFriday challenge. I know this is an especially busy time of year, so I am pleased that you took the time. To be honest with you, it touches my heart that it has continued for so long, and yet, almost every single person gives me something fresh and interesting. Many people really thought it would run its course of markets and end, but, everyone that participates has proven this theory wrong. With Christmas just past and New Year upon us, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping make this challenge a success. Without your help, it would be just another place to post. It is people like you that have given it a recognizable name. Thank you!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers markets and eventually branching out and evolving over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact of what is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
