Some of My Favorite Views...Living Close to a Volcano

in Pinmapple2 years ago

Living close to a volcano has its advantages and disadvantages. One of my favorite things about where we live is the views we are able to see pretty much every day. I love that I can look out of my living room and see the volcano on a clear day. It is like looking at a postcard, and I feel like that is paradise!

The sunsets can be absolutely stunning. You never know what colors will show up in the sky! This evening was particularly amazing looking during a recent sunset.

A precious goat family with my favorite volcano in the background! How could I resist taking a photo? That sleeping giant is known as Volcan Baru. It has been dormant for about 500 years and is not expected to become active in our lifetime. Baru is about 3,470 meters tall!

Dry season in our town is also known as rainbow season. It is very common to see rainbows in the sky. When this photo was taken, it was surprising to see Baru as well as the rainbow! Usually the volcano is covered if a rainbow is out.

Another amazing benefit of living near a volcano is the amazing soil. Tropical plants, like this heliconia, grow wild around here! I love that we live where it doesn't feel hot and sticky like you would think of as "tropical," but we can also grow tropical plants! Now I just need to work on getting a green thumb and see what else we can grow!

Now that we are in rainy season, we should be seeing Baru in the morning, but then the clouds move in around noon and we have some rain in the afternoon. I love how the rains make everything green! I hope you enjoyed some photos from our place!

Stunning view! Is that volcano active?
I always wonder why people would want to live nearby one if so, aren't you afraid one day it will erupt (if active?)

Anyway, seems like you have a very cool spot to live there!

Came here through Listnerds!

No, it isn't active. It hasn't been active in over 500 years. It is not supposed to blow in our lifetime, but it isn't dead either. It's just asleep. We like him that way. We love it here. Thanks for the visit!

How incredibly lovely ... thank you for sharing!

You are truly blessed to live in a place with such a fantastic view and that fertile soil. Nature gives away very useful gifts for those who appreciate it. Now you just have to hope that that volcano remains quiet and that you can enjoy this environment and soil for years to come.

Yes, it's a great place and we do hope he continues sleeping! The soil is nice and black. We have some large boulders around our property that are reported to have come from the volcano explosion over 500 years ago. Perhaps it is the truth.

I could imagine the different colours and tones that a volcano would create! No filter needed. Great photos!

True! No filter needed! There is always something pretty amazing to photograph around here...

Wow that is stunning. I grew up close to a Volcano, but it was inactive. Yu really do live in a beautiful place @apanamamama, that shot with the rainbow is so good xxxx

Thanks! We love it here! We are thankful for the views Baru gives us. 😉

WOW! That's such an amazing spot! I remember that I used to look at your photos with awe. You've built such a lovely place for you and your family. I love it!
Now I'm not that jealous anymore though haha, because here it's within reach for us too. Plus, Panama is not so very far anymore hehe.
