Plernjit Rimtarn Garden - Chiang Mai's Newest Organic Farm to Table

in Pinmapple3 years ago (edited)

Picking your own veggies? Relaxing over a tropical fruit shake and a pizza made with basil that was still growing just hours ago? Plernjit Rimtarn Garden is the newest addition to Chiang Mai's organic foodie scene - a 10 year old organic garden that is opening for pick your own, organic veggie box pick ups and delivery, and just a GORGEOUS back-to-nature eating-healthy diet.

It was an AMAZING fun morning, meeting with owner Khun Phanitarn Tongdonum (best known simply as Khun Tarn) and walking the garden, shop and farm with her.

When you enter off Highway 1317 in Saraphi (just 500m from the outer ringroad underpass), it's a small village-looking frontage on a busy semi-industrial highway.

You can buy plants and herbs to take home for your own garden, veggies and fruit grown on their HUGE site, or order a mixed veggie box for regular home delivery.

The "Less Plastic" journey? They're working on it.

Veggies and fruit are harvested literally several times a day by a crew of committed garden staff. And orders packed immediately.

Walking through the little front shop area, it's AMAZING to see the shaded cafe-garden area they've created!! With multiple, shaded sitting areas for coffee, fruit shakes, salads and home cooked yummies. Their cafe restaurant will be open officially from next week.

Walking through the cafe area, you come to the "show farm" where you can also relax...

and can pick your own veggies. It's a great, new organic educational experience for kids who have NO IDEA where veggies really come from. #homeschooling experience!

LOVED the raised bamboo beds!

And BEHIND the "show garden" is a HUGE EXPANSE of gardens... that just go on and on and on....

Organicf2t24.jpg LOL... Yes - that's me @artemislives & Khun Tarn with the poor gardener barely able to lift the bananas! HUGE!

Organic figs still warm from the sun? Just divine.

Real kale, exploding under the tropical sun? You've come a long way, Thailand!!

Plernjit Rimtarn Organic Garden is open 8am to 5pm, 7 days a week. No charge to enter or simply wander. The family have owned the land for 10 years plus, and the water is sourced from the family's own on-site wells.

Best part? It's a 10 minute drive from our home here in Chiang Mai and just a SERIOUS inspiration - whether you're a gardener, a health devotee or just a serious foodie. It's my new escape to grab some fresh rocket and beetroot and enjoy a cool drink whilst escaping the day to day and our staff. 😆

Please put this on your list when you're next in Chiang Mai - not just for the food and the vibe, but to see how a local Thai family has taken their love of organic and natural to a new entrepreneurial level.

That garden is worth a visit. I love those kinds of gardens where you can pick fresh veggies and fruits. I like the nipa huts too.

Nipa huts are so cool right? I love the way they provide a comfy home for all the little lizards and baby birds. Yup - totally worth a visit.

How are things in Thailand at the moment. I've come across snippets that cases have shot up, but it looks like you're not locked down again. 🤞
