I always remember the simple sentence above in my every trip, that travel is not about how you spend money, but how you enjoy the trip, get valuable experiences and feel happiness.
Finding interesting places doesn't have to be far from where you live, like my trip this time. Actually, I've wanted to go to this place for a long time, but this is the first time I've had the chance to be able to go. After seeing a friend's post, he made my curiosity even higher, forcing my husband to take me to Lake Linting, which is a 2-hour drive from home.
I will tell you many interesting things about Lake Linting. This is a small lake, almost like a swimming pool. The interesting fact is that until now the depth of Lake Linting cannot be measured. One of our guides said that there are researchers who have tried to measure the depth of this lake, and he said that it is more than 600 meters deep. So, it is strictly forbidden to dive, bearing in mind that this lake has not yet measured its depth very clearly. Even so, this Linting Lake can still be used for swimming and bathing because the water is very warm to relax the body.
When discussing the depth of a lake or sea, I remember a saying, 'Rippling Water is Not Deep'. It can be seen from the photo that I took, this lake is very calm, in fact there is no water that shakes apart from being blown by the wind that passes over the surface of the lake. This Linting lake is really very calm, there are only a few sounds of birds and the wind touching the leaves.
Talking about lake Linting, there are many interesting stories about the legend of this lake. Starting with the name 'Linting' in the Karo language which means 'small', where this lake is very small, almost like an artificial lake. In ancient times, the people around Lake Linting considered this lake to be a sacred lake, where this lake has a legend about a former royal princess who was banished for violating customs, she loved a man from the lowest caste. So he was expelled from the kingdom and often angry and crying until a lake was formed.
This myth was exacerbated when many people drowned and died in this lake, so that the local people had closed this lake and forbade anyone to come to this lake. Until finally a few years ago, this lake was reopened and used by the local community as a tourist spot until it exists today.
Many people use Lake Linting as a source of life, from selling food and drinks to tourists, to becoming guides, and also using Lake Linting as a source of water to irrigate the rice fields. Lake Linting, which was once considered dangerous, is now a boon for the local community.
Lake Linting has a myriad of uniqueness, where the water that flows in this lake has a warm temperature so it is used as a warm bath that can cure skin diseases. According to our guide, the water from Lake Linting is a stream from volcanic cracks which contains minerals which are good for curing skin diseases. Do you want to try it?
One of the uniqueness of Lake Linting is that the color of this lake changes, like now the color is like the green color of a soju bottle, there was a time when the color changed to bluer and turquoise. There are interesting facts about this lake, even though this lake is the result of volcanic cracks, the water from this lake is not too smelly like other thermal lakes, so it doesn't bother your nose if you linger in this lake.
This is an interesting experience for me to find out about tourism in the area where I live, not having to pay a lot of money to come here. Entrance tickets to enjoy the beauty of Lake Linting are only priced at 10,000 per person, including vehicle parking and toilet use. The price of the food sold is still very affordable, unlike most other tourist spots that use it to raise prices.
But unfortunately, Lake Linting looks not well maintained, many facilities are damaged and dangerous to use. So I hope that in the future there will be local government intervention to renovate some of the facilities at Lake Linting, so that more tourists will come and help the economy of the people around Lake Linting. At least, Lake Linting is becoming more famous and no less like Lake Toba, because there are very few hydrothermal lakes in Indonesia and they will become even more sustainable in the future.

The legend of Lake Linting sounds intriguing and it's interesting to learn about the cultural significance of this lake. The small size of the lake and the story of the banished princess add to the lake's unique history. Legends like these can give us a glimpse into the cultural beliefs and values of past communities.
