Good morning dear friends of Hive, today I want to talk to you about one of the last cities I was able to visit, before the last total closure due to Covid, the city of Arezzo and its archaeological museum.
I was in this city thanks to the business trip that my brother @ilpaso had to make of course I took the ball to visit some of the wonders of Tuscany, I had to choose a few places having only two days of time.

Buongiorno cari amici di Hive, oggi voglio parlarvi di una delle ultime città che sono riuscita a visitare, prima dell’ultima chiusura totale causa Covid, la città di Arezzo e il suo museo archeologico.
Sono stata in questa città grazie al viaggio di lavoro che ha dovuto fare mio fratello @ilpaso ovviamente io ho colto la palla al balzo per poter visitare alcune delle meraviglie della Toscana, ho dovuto scegliere poche località avendo solamente due giorni di tempo.

Arezzo was the first stop on our trip, it is a city in the eastern area of Tuscany and is built on a hill, in fact the roads are all sloping, I recommend comfortable shoes for the visit because there are many climbs and descents.
In the highest part is the city's cathedral, very poor on the outside but rich in decorations inside, especially the ceilings and also contains a wonderful fresco by Piero della Francesca, a well-known 15th century painter.
Arezzo è stata la prima tappa del nostro viaggio, è una città della zona orientale della Toscana ed è costruita su un colle, infatti le strade sono tutte in pendenza, vi consiglio scarpe comode per la visita perchè ci sono moltissime salite e discese.
Nella parte più alta si trova la cattedrale della città, molto povera all’esterno ma all’interno ricca di decorazioni, soprattutto i soffitti e contiene inoltre un meraviglioso affresco realizzato da Piero della Francesca, noto pittore del XV sec.
Immediately after the visit to the cathedral we ran to the archaeological museum because it was about to close, fortunately we were able to enter even without a reservation (which today is mandatory due to COVID).
The National Archaeological Museum is one of the most important in Tuscany, immediately after that of Florence, it is on two floors and contains many archaeological finds of considerable importance from the Etruscan and Roman times.
At the entrance it is possible to see, thanks to the windows, the remains of the ancient Roman amphitheater surrounded by greenery.
It is possible to see many gold jewels, belonging to noble families, found in the various Etruscan necropolises.
Nel museo vi è poi una sala dedicata alla terra sigillata o ceramica arretina, un tipo di ceramica molto particolare, che nasce ad Arezzo e che viene commercializzata durante l’epoca romana in tutto l’impero, la sua caratteristica principale era quella di avere un colore rosso corallino e brillante, inoltre molti di questi vasi portavano il marchio di fabbrica, una sorta di firma che garantiva il prodotto ma allo stesso tempo anche ostentazione per la famiglia che possedeva il prodotto ceramico, che prevalentemente era da mensa.
E’ stata per me molto interessante questa parte del museo poichè su questo argomento, ossia sui diversi marchi di fabbrica su terra sigillata, ho eseguito la mia tesi di laurea magistrale in archeologia.
Una stanza di fondamentale importanza all’interno del museo è quella contenente il famoso cratere di Euphoronios o Eufronio, un grande vaso a volute utilizzato nell'antichità per miscelare vino, miele e acqua, un reperto di grande pregio certamente appartenuto ad una aristocrazia locale del V sec. a.C. Il vaso è stato realizzato da uno dei più importanti pittori ceramografi dell’antica Grecia, Eufronio, conosciuto per la produzione a figure rosse su sfondo nero. Il vaso raffigura sull’orlo una decorazione floreale, sul collo sono raffigurate numerose figure alcune che danzano altre che suonano diversi strumenti e sulla pancia la lotta tra Eracle e le Amazzoni.
La raffigurazione è ricca di pathos, sicuramente un'opera di grandissima importanza, anche perché non ve ne sono moltissimi esemplari.
Altro reperto fondamentale è il medaglione in crisografia, è uno dei pochi esemplari giunti sino a noi dall’epoca romana ( circa 10 ). Rappresenta un uomo barbato su sfondo blu, la particolarità è la sua tecnica di realizzazione che prevede diverse incisioni su lamina d’oro o argento, incollata su un primo strato di vetro e coperta poi da un secondo strato sempre di vetro. E’ un’opera molto rara e fragile ma conservata in maniera eccellente presso il museo.
