Happy Sunday traveling friends around the world, I wish you are enjoying good health and have an excellent week, today I share with you my visit to the municipality of Cedeño, Bolívar state, which has a privileged location that covers part of the route of the Orinoco River, which It constitutes an important source of employment and tourist attraction of the capital city of the municipality. Today, May 28, the day of Our Lady of Light, patron saint of the city, is celebrated.
For these celebrations, various activities are carried out every year: Creole music concerts (Joropo), toros coleados, election of the queen, presentation of national and international singers and groups and the famous fairs, where the city receives for about a month the visit of peddlers from different regions of the country who offer a wide variety of merchandise at affordable prices.
Feliz domingo amigos viajeros en todo el mundo, deseo se encuentren disfrutando de buena salud y tengan una excelente semana, hoy comparto con ustedes mi visita al municipio Cedeño estado Bolívar, el cual tiene una ubicación privilegiada que abarca parte del recorrido del Río Orinoco, que constituye una fuente importante de empleo y atractivo turístico de la ciudad capital del municipio, hoy 28 de mayo se celebra el día de nuestra señora de la Luz patrona de la ciudad.
Para estos festejos cada año se realizan diversas actividades: conciertos de música criolla (Joropo), toros coleados, elección de la reina, presentación de cantantes y agrupaciones nacionales e internacionales y las famosas ferias,donde la ciudad recibe durante aproximadamente un mes la visita de buhoneros de diferentes regiones del país que ofrecen gran variedad de mercancía a precios accesibles.
The capital city of this municipality is of Colonial origin, like many cities in the country, in colonial times, during the emancipation process, the Liberator Simón Bolívar passed through this city when he was on his way to meet with General Páez in the Apure state of according to the information provided by a recognized professor and presenter of the entity.
The church is located on Avenida Libertador, in the Guamo sector, it is believed that its construction dates from the late 1800s, it is currently blue and white, it has a bell tower and a clock, which according to several historians was donated by a merchant from the population.
La ciudad capital de este municipio es de origen Colonial al igual que muchas ciudades del país, en la época colonial, durante el proceso de emancipación el Libertador Simón Bolívar pasó por esta ciudad cuando se dirigía a reunirse con el General Páez en el estado Apure de acuerdo a la información suministrada por un reconocido profesor y locutor de la entidad; la iglesia se ubica en la avenida Libertador, sector el Guamo, se cree que su construcción data desde finales de 1800, actualmente es de color azul y blanco, posee un campanario y un reloj, que según varios historiadores fue donado por un comerciante de la población.
The church was built with concrete and its design corresponds to the traditional model with colonial influence, in the front part it has 5 columns and an upper cornice where one of the crosses rests, in the upper part it has three crosses, the rest are located on the roof of the bell tower and in the upper rectangle on the left side, this triangle is adorned with concrete chaguaramos, the windows are semi-arch shaped like the doors, four small semi-oval windows are located very close to the cornices, it also has two rectangular gardens , terracotta floor at the entrance and a staircase that gives access to the Plaza Bolívar.
Behind the square is an important educational center of the city, which has more than 30 years of experience training and preparing young people in secondary education (Bachiller), during the fair the church receives many parishioners who come to venerate their patron saint; Whenever I visit this city, I make the most of the opportunity to visit the different attractions, especially the Orinoco River where you can see beautiful sunsets, it is very exciting to contemplate this immense river and see the chalanas (kind of boats) navigate its waters.
La iglesia se construyó con hormigón y su diseño corresponde al modelo tradicional con influencia colonial, en la parte frontal tiene 5 columnas y cornisa superior donde descansa una de las cruces, en la parte superior posee tres cruces las restantes se ubican en el techo del campanario y en el rectángulo superior del lado izquierdo, este triángulo se encuentra adornado con chaguaramos de concreto, las ventanas tienen forma de semi arco al igual que las puerta, muy cerca de las cornisas se ubican cuatro pequeñas ventanas semi ovaladas, además tiene dos jardines rectangulares, piso de terracota en la entrada y una escalera que da acceso a la plaza Bolívar.
Detrás de la plaza se ubica un importante centro educativo de la ciudad, que tiene más de 30 años de trayectoria formando y preparando jóvenes en educación media (Bachiller), durante la feria la iglesia recibe muchos feligreses que acuden a venerar a su patrona; las veces que visito esta ciudad aprovecho la oportunidad al máximo para visitar los diferentes atractivos, especialmente el Río Orinoco donde se pueden observar hermosos atardeceres, es muy emocionante contemplar este inmenso río y ver las chalanas (especie de bote) navegar en sus aguas.

I like the color of this church. Blue, with white elements. Exotic palm trees growing right next to it. Again, I see elements referring to the Spanish style and I'm reminded of the architecture I remember from the Canary Islands. It would be nice to enter this church for prayer 😉
Greetings @katiefreespirit, unfortunately when I passed it was closed, the interior is very nice, the palm trees give freshness to the entrance of the church, Venezuela was for many years a colony of Spain and many of the settlers came from the Canary Islands, most of the country's buildings dating from the colonial era stand out for their marked Spanish and European influence.
