Maria Cristina Waterfalls

Have you been to Maria Christina Waterfalls?

I only see it in elementary and high school textbooks. So after I got a job, I went to Iligan City last January 2019 to visit one of god's wonderful creation. I was amazed when I saw it face to face. They said it's the queen of all majestic falls in Iligan City probably because of its benefits, not sure how they decide to make it the queen.

It is inside National Power Corporation (NPC) Nature's Park. The falls is the primary source of electric power. The waters that flow are being harnessed by Hydroelectric Plant that can supply electricity. You are not allowed to go swimming or fishing there because it is dangerous.

You aren't allowed to enter the power plant. However, you can still view the waterfalls from a safe distance. They have a viewing spot where you can see the whole place. You can also feel the mists from the falls which makes the experience truly wonderful. It is so relaxing to see the waterfalls and eat near it. There are food stores nearby which serve snacks, noodles, and beverages.

They also have a Botanical & Zoological Gardens where there are lots of animals. It's like a mini zoo with birds, snakes, crocodiles, deer, monkey, picnic area, butterfly area, etc.

How to get there?

It is approximately 9 km from Iligan City proper. To go to Maria Cristina Falls from Iligan City. You can ride a jeepney bound for Buru-un. The jeepney fare is just 12 PHP. Just make sure to tell the driver to drop you off at the intersection to Maria Cristina Falls. The intersection is just after a steel bridge. You will have to pay the entrance fee of 50 PHP and that includes the fare for the shuttle to Maria Christina Falls.

So if you're into waterfalls adventure then don't miss Maria Cristina Falls.

what a marvel of nature! thanks for sharing. :)

I've only seen pictures of Maria Cristina Falls in textbooks too, I never even knew that they had a Botanical and a garden, I thought it would just be filled with equipment and generators. Would love to visit Maria Cristina Waterfalls on our way to Bukidnon.

Ma Christona haven't been there but this is part our class before heheh

WOW! Maria Cristina Falls brought me to my elementary and high school days, now I miss my childhood. Anyways, nice view hopes we can visit there too.

Judging by the pictures, its current is really powerful talaga to supply electricity. If we could have just put our focus on hydro and wind energy, electric bills wouldn't be such a pain, lol. May botanical gardens po pala, it would be a pleasure to be there T^T

I said before that I was excited about this blog and I'm late on commenting, lmao.
