Art is an universal language that everyone can understand and it can have, among other purposes, that of describing the ordinary daily life. The objective of the exhibition that I visited and which I will talk about in this post is precisely this: I am talking, in fact, about an art collection that describes the world of work through a hundred paintings created between 1949 and 1950.
We are in the city of Forlì, in the Emilia-Romagna region (north Italy), and it all started thanks to an Italian entrepreneur called Giuseppe Verzocchi. In 1949, he thought of creating a collection of paintings that would combine contemporary art and industry. To do this, he asked over 70 Italian painters of the time to create a painting that had work and self-portrait as the theme.
The Verzocchi exhibition, a true masterpiece of contemporary painting, was presented for the first time at the famous Venice Biennale in 1951 and, subsequently, the paintings were placed in the Art Gallery of the city of Forlì. In 1986 the works were exhibited at the Milan Triennale but, during this event, 21 paintings were stolen and many were destroyed. The reasons for this artistic disaster are still unknown, although fortunately almost all of them were later found.
The aspect that I liked the most about this exhibition is the emotional impact it represents. It is an exhibition capable of reaching people's hearts! The fact that the paintings were all made by different painters makes the collection unique in its kind, as it is possible to recognize different styles and techniques. One thing that remains impressed is also the use of colors, which in my opinion are truly incredible. Below I share with you some photos of this wonderful exhibition, I hope you like them!

L’arte è un linguaggio universale che tutti possono comprendere e può avere, tra i vari scopi, anche quello di descrivere la vita quotidiana. L’obbiettivo della mostra che ho visitato e di cui vi parlerò in questo post è proprio questo: si tratta, infatti, di una collezione d’arte che descrive il mondo del lavoro attraverso un centinaio di quadri realizzati tra il 1949 e il 1950.
Siamo nella città di Forlì, nella regione Emilia-Romagna, e tutto nacque grazie a un imprenditore italiano chiamato Giuseppe Verzocchi. Egli, nel 1949, pensò di realizzare una collezione di quadri che unissero l’arte contemporanea e l’industria. Per fare ciò, chiese a oltre 70 pittori italiani dell’epoca di realizzare un dipinto che avessero come tema il lavoro e l’autoritratto.
L’esposizione Verzocchi, un vero e proprio capolavoro di pittura contemporanea, venne presentata per la prima volta alla famosa Biennale di Venezia del 1951 e, successivamente, i quadri vennero dislocati nella Pinacoteca della città di Forlì. Nel 1986 le opere vennero esposte alla Triennale di Milano ma, durante questa vicenda, ben 21 quadri vennero rubati e molti vennero distrutti. Ancora non si conoscono le motivazioni di questo disastro artistico, anche se per fortuna quasi tutti poi vennero ritrovati.
L’aspetto che mi è piaciuto di più di questa mostra è l’impatto emotivo che rappresenta. È una mostra in grado di arrivare al cuore delle persone! Il fatto che i quadri siano stati realizzati tutti da pittori diversi rende la collezione unica nel suo genere, in quanto si possono riconoscere diversi stili e tecniche. Una cosa che rimane impressa è anche l’utilizzo dei colori, a mio avviso davvero incredibili. Di seguito condivido con voi alcune foto di questa splendida mostra, spero vi piacciano!
