Snowy waterfall - Rhine Falls

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Lately, I've been going through a lot in my life so I haven't been around at all. I've been thinking about posting so often but I couldn't get myself to sit down and actually do something. This week, I have decided that I finally have to start again. So, here we go..

This winter was special for us. We usually have no snow at all as we're quite far away from the mountains and the climate here is rather mild which means that we have a lot of rain and fog all winter around. But not this winter!

I've been living here since 10 years and haven't seen so much chaos because of the snow before. It started snowing in the evening and in the morning we woke up to the snow almost up to the knees! It looked like the city service was shocked too as they didn't manage to clean it properly until it melted away a few days later.

People who parked their cars outside struggled to drive away and we helped one guy to push his car out of the parking spot as he was stuck. We went for a walk in the fresh snow when we saw him. We tried to help him but we were not strong enough. Luckily, I saw two guys cleaning the street in front of their houses and asked them for help. They didn't even think about it and helped us. It was so good to see that people are still willing to help others. That guy was so happy that he could drive home and I was proud that we helped!

This is also the first winter when I went outside every day regardless the weather and tried to reach 10,000 steps every day - not easy but doable. So often we walked in the rain but when we came back home I was feeling good nevertheless. This new routine seems to be beneficial to our health as neither of us was sick this winter.

Today, I will take you for a walk to the snowy waterfall. It was stunning and I hope that you will enjoy it. This is how it looked like a few weeks ago and you wouldn't recognize it today as it seems that spring has arrived early this year. I will show you that next time.

Usually, we wouldn't come to the waterfall that often as there are always too many tourist but this year it was quiet, and there were only locals walking around which was so different to what we're used to. We enjoyed it a lot before the tourists take it over again...

This is how much snow we got overnight. It might not be a lot for you if you're coming from a place where this is normal but trust me that this is very rare sight here...

I was glad to see that there were some people before me as I didn't have to walk in deep snow but followed this narrow path...

I would have stayed there for ages if it was not that cold!

There is a walking trail on the other side of the river too but it was closed as the trees are old and weak and there was a risk that they would break down under the heavy snow and fall on the path. Further down the way I saw one tree break and fall in the river. It was so loud!

This is how I find my peace - walking along the river on my own, enjoying the nature and listening to my favorite music 🙂

Hello stranger!!! Good to see you back, hope you are doing well, missed you.

As usual, a lovely post from you Martina. I wish we had some snow where I am, but all we had were a few snowflakes. Take care, and please drop by more often.

Hello, my dear! I have missed you too! I just needed some time to put myself back together :)

Oh, we had so much snow this year but I'm honestly happy that it's gone already. Now, we're enjoy blooming trees and warm weather :)

Have a lovely weekend, Pauline!

I enjoyed looking through your snowy photos. What a beautiful place to walk and take pictures. Snow always makes things look SO magical.

Sehr schön! And yes spring arrived yesterday...esp. here in the southwest. Crazy weather, last week freezing our butts off and today 20°C. Liebe Grüsse :)

Yes! It's been so nice today and yesterday. I love to see those little flowers coming out :) I hope there will be no frost anymore..

Great to hear from you, my friend! We have had tons of snow this winter, too. It does look prettier at your house, maybe I could send you some of mine. Good for you for getting outdoors everyday, even with all the snow!

Great to hear from you too, Melinda! Hope, you're doing well :)

Sure, it would be nice to see some photos from around your home.

Yes! I seem to be having some sort of an allergy at home, so I'm feeling at my best outside. Going to see the doctor soon to understand what is happening as I can't sleep properly, so need to fix that soon :)

I have posted many snow photos, but I was thinking I might send you a foot or so of the stuff from my yard!

It's snowing again right now.

Hahaha, misunderstood! :) No, no, just keep that snow :) We are enjoying spring already :)

Thank you Martina. Always so wonderful to go on a walk with you. For someone who adores the snow, this was an especially lovely walk. So glad you are back!

Thank you, dear Sara. Did you have a lot of snow this winter? We are now enjoying spring already. The trees are blooming and the weather is so nice :)

Martina. I went on a road trip to Utah, Idaho and Oregon in December and had beautiful snow in all three places. No snow in Mesa, Arizona so I travel to fill my soul with it's beauty.

Beautiful photos and an amazing place! Missing that white snowy magic more and more lately with all of these great winter posts!

Thank you :) Is there no snow where you live?

It is 30 degrees all year around. :)

Oh, I've just checked that you're in Thailand :) so yes, you probably don't enjoy seasons that much :) Do you get to travel abroad to experience different weather as well? Not in Covid times of course :)

Well with the pandemic at hand I can only dream of going somewhere cold. Hopefuly the end of this year. :)

Oh gosh, I freaking love this kind of landscapes!! However, you have to wear lots of clothes if you don't want to end up freezing haha. But we had waaaay to much snow over here so I'm looking forward to the spring to come by! :D

Oh yes, I love winter but hate all those layers.. I always end up walking like a penguin :D We already have spring here! :) There are flowers, trees are blooming and it's +16 today. Way too early, way too warm but I still enjoy it :)

Thank you for stopping by! :)

Did we find some lost time together!? Welcome back to you😘
Started with a banger! Waterfalls and snowy conditions are such an dreamy like combination😎

Heeey Remy, it's time to talk again, isn't it? We should plan another call :)

Thank you! Hope you're doing well :)

Time to talk again indeed! Will this week suit you?

So great to see your posts again! I too actually just started posting again lately after a tiring year. Amazing photos, I hope to visit there myself one of these days, maybe this year or next depending how things go with the virus. I miss Europe. Glad to see from you again, hope you're well!

Thank you! It's so good to hear from you! :) I'm doing well.. Hope, you're good too! Yeah, last year wasn't the best one for me either but I try to stay positive. Don't forget to let me know when you're in Europe again :)

Nice shoots.
Beautiful Nature. Check my Photography maybe You found pictures you like. the iron its own appearance looks philosophical❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

I is interesting to see this covered in snow and ice. I had been there in April 2017 while staying with a friend who lives half hour by car from there, on the German side in Küssaberg. Impressive place! And yes, it was teeming with tourists.

From my time when I lived in Canada, I have similar photos from the Waterton Lakes National Park which is practically closed during Winter, and no tourists are there. Though lots of snow is normal there from October till May.

Nice! Did you go down to the water as well? I was so overwhelmed when I went there for the first time. It was so weird to feel so much power right next to you..

I will check your photos too! :) Thank you for stopping by! :)
