On the next leg of our Norwegian cruise we called in at Alta. It was rather cold at -9°c. The roads were very slippy.
It must have been very comical for the locals watching a cruise ship full of people, trying to navigate their way across the road, without breaking a leg.
We saw an unusual building that turned out to be the Cathedral of the Northern Lights, which is aptly named as you quite often see the northern lights here. The cathedral looked like something out of a science fiction film. Source
Right next to the cathedral, is the statue of the Norwegian scientist Kristian Birkeland who was nominated for the Nobel Prize seven times. Source
After doing a bit of shopping, we headed back to the cruise ship, where we were greeted with a hot cup of chocolate.
And a few more northern lights came out to play!

Cathedral of the Northern Lights -hehe sounds like a bizarre cult!!
Thanks for sharing @ellenripley :)
It's the first time for me. Pretty amazing. I didn’t sign up to the cult! 😁
