This past weekend, I visited the northern-most reaches of the continental U.S.
There's actually quite a difference between southern and northern Minnesota, especially this time of year when both straddle either side of freezing temps.
On the northern side, this means snowfall. And a recent snowing led to this:
Trail blocked by trees bent with snow.
Poplar trees to infinity, a jungle of snow-filled brush beneath
If you ever visit, try to arrive following a fresh snow.

Same in Oakdale. It's all but gone now. At least the melt is refilling the pond in my backyard!
Yeah, as we drove south, the snow got less and less. Kinda sad, but easier driving:)
There's a full foot of snow up north.
I was up in the Iron Range and had to drive on some pretty unmanaged roads. I made plenty of stops to remove fallen down trees from all the heavy snow.
