Hello, dear friends! In today's blog I decided to tell you about my experience to Macedonia hut, located in the highest mountain in Bulgaria - Rila.
Let me start with some background. 😀
Some of my friends are avid mountaineers and absolutely every weekend they go somewhere as far and as high as possible. I'm not exactly that type of person, but I can definitely say that what they do, namely mountaineering and the way they do it, has always impressed me.

В днешния блог реших да ви разкажа за моето преживяване до хижа Македония, разположена в най- високата планина в България - Рила.
Нека започна с малко предистория. 😀
Една част от обкръжаващите ме приятели са запалени планинари и абсолютно всяка събота и неделя отпрашват някъде колкото се може по-надалеч и по-нависоко. Аз не съм точно от този тип хора, но определено мога да кажа, че това което те правят, а именно планинарството и начина по който те го правят винаги ме е впечатлявало.
One sunny day while we were picnicking in the woods, from who knows where, one of my friends- Ivan, got the idea to do a weekend hiking trip to Macedonia hut.
But how will we all organize to go together, how much time will we need, and is the hike to the hut very long? 😀
To be honest, most of the questions were asked by me, as someone who doesn't belong to the group of mountaineers and understands almost nothing.

В един слънчев ден, докато бяхме на пикник в гората, не знайно откъде, на един от приятелите ми- Иван, му хрумна идеята да направим уикенд планинарство до хижа Македония.
Изведнъж започнаха въпроси като: Ама как ще се организираме всички да отидем заедно, колко време ще ни е необходимо, а прехода до хижата много дълъг ли е? 😀
Честно казано, повечето от въпросите бяха зададени именно от мен, като човек който не спада към групата на планинарите и не разбира почти нищо.
However, one has to sometimes go with the flow and enjoy spontaneous experiences and ideas. As in this case.
I didn't think much of it and said I agreed. Now it was just a matter of figuring out when to go and what to do to get there. Considering that the picnic was at the end of May, early June seemed to be the best time to visit Macedonia Hut. That's when it wouldn't be so cold, the snow would have melted and the weather would be favorable even to inexperienced mountaineers like me.

Въпреки това човек понякога трябва за се отпусне по течението на съдбата и да се наслади на спонтанни преживявания и идеи. Както в случая.
Не му мислех кой знае колко много и казах, че съм съгласна. Сега оставаше само да се разберем кога да отидем и с какво да стигнем до там. Имайки предвид, че пикника беше края на май месец, най- удачен период в който да посетим хижа Македония, ни се стори началото на юни. Именно тогава нямаше да е толкова студено, снегът щеше да се е разтопил и времето щеше да бъде благоприятно дори и към неопитните планинари като мен.
To get to the lift to the Macedonia hut, you first have to go through Blagoevgrad and the ski centre located next to it. It is called Kartala. If you do as we did, going from the Kartala ski center to the Macedonia hut, it will take you about 4 hours to get to the hut itself. But here we are talking about hiking in normal weather conditions, as it was in our case. We started from Blagoevgrad at +20 degrees, and as we climbed towards Macedonia hut the temperature gradually decreased. Eventually, once we reached Macedonia hut, the thermometer showed 3-4 degrees above zero. These temperatures were measured in degrees Celsius.

За да стигнете до лифта за хижа Македония, първо трябва да минете през Благоевград и намиращия се в непосредствена близост до него - ски център. Той се нарича Картала. Ако направите като нас, да тръгнете от ски център Картала към хижа Македония, ще ви отнеме около 4 часа да стигнете до самата хижа. Но тук говорим за преход при нормално климатични условия, както беше в нашия случай. От Благоевград тръгнахме на +20 градуса, и изкачвайки се към хижа Македония температурата постепенно намаляваше. В крайна сметка след като стигнахме хижа Македония, термометъра показваше 3-4 градуса над нулата. Тези температури са измерени в градуси Целзий.
To be honest this temperature change is quite normal. After all, Hut Macedonia is located at 2188 meters above sea level. The good thing was that we were prepared with sleeping bags, tents and thick clothes. And not to miss the fact that we wore another pair of mountain shoes.

Ако трябва да бъдем честни тази температурна промяна е доста нормално явление. Все пак хижа Македония се намира на 2188 метра надморска височина. Хубавото беше, че бяхме подготвени със спални чували, палатки и дебели дрехи. А да не пропускам и факта че носихме по още един чифт планински обувки.
Suddenly the Macedonia hut appeared in front of us. We were all looking forward to this moment, especially after the long hike. According to the hut keepers, it could accommodate about 40 people. That is the capacity. The view was really worth it. Just at sunset sitting in front of the hut enjoying the amazing sunset.

Изведнъж хижа Македония се появи пред нас. Всички чакахме този момент с нетърпение, особено след дългия преход. По думи на хижарите в нея могат да се настанят около 40 човека. Горе долу толкова и е капацитета. Гледката наистина си заслужаваше. Точно по залез слънце седейки отпред пред хижата и насладавайки се на невероятния залез.
After dark the whole group sat in the day room if I may say so myself. We enjoyed the delicious food and the company of ourselves. Suddenly it was 3 o'clock at night and we decided that it was time to lie down for a bit and sleep as well as gather our strength, because the next day was also going to be a long hike.

След като се стъмни цялата група седнахме в дневната стая ако мога така да се изразя. Наслаждавахме се на вкусно приготвената храна и на компанията на самите нас. Неусетно стана 3 часа през нощта и решихме, че време да легнем малко и да поспим както и да съберем сили, защото на следващия ден ни чакаше също дълъг преход.

Perching on that ledge of rock and looking downwards is an extremely courageous feat. I wonder what are the wind speeds in that exotic altitude? Overall, the magnificent panoramas as viewed from that point are absolutely breathtaking!
