Construction started on this tower in 1975, for the sole intention of improving telecom communications for the 1980 Moscow olympics, (the boaty stuff being held at Tallinn, 5 miles away)
Paying my €5 it was a quick ride in a non stop lift (not sure why they number the floors as you can’t select any!). It was fast, not as nippy as the burj khalif. But that’s just pretentious. With crap views of sand and building sites.
Although a bit hazy, the views were spectacular from here one can see just how green and forested Estonia really is. And how flat the earth is still can’t see a curvature hmmm!
Trees are the lungs of the earth. They also harbour, as I was to find out later, hundreds and thousands of midges and flies, sneaky little buggers too, some you don’t feel land on you until you feel a sharp sting and see the little bastard has drawn blood!
I digress
There is usually the opportunity to step out of the protective area and complete an edge walk, but I’ve never been lucky, on the day of my visit “it was too windy”. Can’t disagree it was rather blowy.
Plenty of opportunities for the touristic selfie!
There were a number of cruise ships docked around the port at Tallinn, the only things moving were the ferries to I guess Helsinki, Stockholm or other gorgeous Baltic ports.
Oh and you can stand on a glass panel and look down!
There is also a small cafe at the top that looked tired and uninspiring, maybe due to the lack of visitors, at ground level there is a well stocked gift shop where, like me , you can buy a fridge magnet!
All in all a nice 45 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of climbing through windows. If you get the opportunity it’s well worth a visit.

Did you get any hassle coming back, isolation and all that? We've been putting off going out of the UK because we can't be arsed with all the testing and shit. (This is a little off subject I know).
No hassle, paid for my day 2 and 8 tests, got a test in Estonia pre flight £50, Ryanair didn’t enforce face nappies, and neither did border force when I walked up bereft of a covering. Scanned my location form straight in no hassle.
I’m not self isolating at all. I just leave my phone at home when I go out. It’s a game, in Wales you mustn’t leave your house for 10 days except for exceptional circumstances, nor have any visitors. Erm hello! Then how do I post my day 2/8 samples. Fucking idiots.
I guess because I’m retired I don’t have the hassle of going to the office anymore.
My life my rules, I’m in the process of booking to go to another amber country , Albania, in September ( non Urbex 😂 ), and as soon as France lifts its U.K. citizens 10 day quarantine ban, I’m off there too, got given a map loaded with pins!
So impressive and tall tower. I'm not sure I can get to the top and brave enough to stand on the glass to look down ...scared :(
😂 face your fears x
