El 7 de octubre de 2011 abrí los ojos en una habitación del Hotel de París. ¡Qué emoción! Había despertado en la capital del amor. Según el itinerario que mi esposo y yo habíamos acordado previamente, ese día visitaríamos el Barrio Latino. Un lugar con mucha historia ya que ahí se erigió la Sorbona, la primera universidad de París y una de las más antiguas del mundo que data aproximadamente del siglo XVIII. Se dice que el nombre del barrio surgió porque en la antigüedad los estudiantes y maestros tenían que hablar Latin para poder estudiar y enseñar en tan prestigiosa universidad. Así mismo, este sitio destaca por su ambiente medieval en sus callejuelas, restaurantes, bares y cafés. Por cierto es una de las zonas más concurridas y nocturnas de París. Siempre está abarrotada de estudiantes y turistas que quieren pasarla bien.

Como habíamos llegado la noche anterior a la ciudad, estábamos ansiosos por salir y conocer la ciudad de modo que desde antes de salir del hotel ya estábamos tomando fotos. También fotografiamos el hotel y el restaurante donde desayunamos. Como olvidarlo 😂. Lo cierto es que mi esposo saludó con un Bonjour (buenos días en francés) efusivo y pidió nos trajeran un desayuno. Queríamos probar una comida autóctona. A los pocos minutos nos trajeron un par de croissants simples, sin relleno y nos preguntaron qué queríamos tomar. Entonces pedí un café. Nos comimos los croissants y seguimos esperando por el plato fuerte. Minutos después mi esposo preguntó cuando nos traerían el resto del desayuno y oh sorpresa, ese había sido el desayuno. Fue nuestra primera decepción.😂

Antes de ir a nuestro destino final, hicimos varias diligencias que nos evitarían largas colas y problemas con nuestra estadía. En primer lugar tomamos el Metro en Porte de Pantin y nos dirigimos a la Oficina de Turismo para adquirir las entradas de varios sitios, entre esas las del Museo de Louvre. Ya con las entradas en mano, decidimos pasear por la ciudad que es un encanto. Amo Europa con locura 😍 😍

Hacia la tarde por fin llegamos a este maravilloso lugar donde lo primero que ves después de cruzar el río Sena es la plaza Saint Michael ubicada en una esquina. Allí destaca la figura de San Miguel sobre Lucifer.

En este lugar también destaca la imponente y gótica Catedral de Notre Dame. Como dato curioso resulta que la construcción de esta iglesia tomó 150 años y al igual que otras grandes obras de la antigüedad ha resistido a eventos catastróficos como la Revolución Francesa y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Es sabido que actualmente se encuentra en reconstrucción debido al incendio que sufrió en 2019.

En el Barrio Latino se respira un ambiente bastante comercial, con restaurantes, bares, cafés, terrazas y tiendas de souvenir. La atención hacia los turistas es excelente y su arquitectura es impresionante.

Es un lugar muy concurrido por estudiantes y turistas.
La mayoría de restaurantes poseen vitrinas que muestran al público las delicias que ofrecen y algunas con su típica disposición de mesas y sillas al aire libre. En cuanto a la relación precio/valor de las comidas es bastante asequible en comparación con otros lugares de la ciudad.

Las tiendas de souvenirs las encontrarás en todos lados en París y aquí no es la excepción. Nosotros aprovechamos el momento y compramos un par de boinas para sentirnos parisinos sofisticados y algo artísticos.

Si vas a París tienes que detenerte aquí para pasear por sus alrededores y si quieres beber con amigos puedes disfrutar del Happy Hour, donde sirven tragos y tapas con descuentos especiales. La verdad puedes pasarla muy bien. Viajar es uno de los placeres de la vida que te llevas al morir.

En el fondo una librería y papelería, es muy común conseguirlas, por que es el Barrio donde nació una de las universidades más antiguas del mundo. La Sorbona
Mis recomendaciones
- Debes ir con zapatos cómodos, porque París es una ciudad con bastantes atractivos turísticos, que no querrás perderte por no sentirte cómoda. Además muchas de las calles son de piedra lo que dificulta la movilización si no se tiene un calzado apropiado.
- El transporte público funciona muy bien, su logística es organizada y sus unidades son limpias. El Metro aunque su aspecto es antiguo y descuidado su funcionamiento es excelente, rápido y goza de muchas rutas que te permiten llegar a cualquier punto sin mayor esfuerzo.
- Recuerda recargar la batería de tu cámara o mejor aún, lleva batería y memoria de repuesto.
- Por último, mantén tu mente y estómago abiertos para conocer y probar comidas de otras culturas.

On October 7, 2011, I opened my eyes in a room of the Hotel Paris. What a thrill! I had woken up in the capital of love. According to the itinerary my husband and I had previously agreed upon, that day we would visit the Latin Quarter. A place with a lot of history since the Sorbonne, the first university in Paris and one of the oldest in the world dating back to approximately the 18th century, was erected there. It is said that the name of the neighborhood arose because in ancient times students and teachers had to speak Latin in order to study and teach at such a prestigious university. Also, this site stands out for its medieval atmosphere in its narrow streets, restaurants, bars and cafes. By the way, it is one of the busiest and most nocturnal areas of Paris. It is always crowded with students and tourists who want to have a good time.

As we had arrived the night before in the city, we were anxious to get out and see the city so we were already taking pictures before leaving the hotel. We also photographed the hotel and the restaurant where we had breakfast. How to forget 😂. The truth is that my husband greeted with an effusive Bonjour! (Good morning in French) And asked to bring us breakfast. We wanted to taste some local food. Within a few minutes they brought us a couple of plain croissants, no fillings and asked us what we wanted to drink. Then I asked for a coffee. We ate the croissants and continued waiting for the main course. Minutes later my husband asked when they would bring us the rest of the breakfast and, oh surprise! That had been the breakfast. It was our first disappointment 😂.

Before going to our final destination, we ran several errands to avoid long lines and problems with our stay. First we took the Metro at Porte de Pantin and went to the Tourist Office to purchase tickets for several sites, including the Louvre Museum. Once we had our tickets in hand, we decided to walk around the city which is a delight. I love Europe with madness 😍 😍 😍.

Towards the afternoon we finally arrived at this wonderful place where the first thing you see after crossing the Seine River is the Saint Michael square located in a corner. There stands out the figure of St. Michael over Lucifer.

In this place also stands out the imposing and gothic Notre Dame Cathedral. As a curious fact it turns out that the construction of this church took 150 years and like other great works of antiquity has withstood catastrophic events such as the French Revolution and World War II. It is known that it is currently under reconstruction due to the fire it suffered in 2019.

The Latin Quarter has a very commercial atmosphere, with restaurants, bars, cafes, terraces and souvenir stores. The attention to tourists is excellent and its architecture is impressive.

Most restaurants have showcases displaying the delicacies they offer to the public and some with their typical outdoor tables and chairs. As for the price/value ratio of the meals, it is quite affordable compared to other places in the city.

Souvenir stores are everywhere in Paris and here is no exception. We took advantage of the moment and bought a pair of berets to feel like sophisticated and somewhat artistic Parisians.

If you go to Paris you have to stop here to stroll around and if you want to drink with friends you can enjoy the Happy Hour, where they serve drinks and tapas with special discounts. You can really have a great time. Traveling is one of the pleasures of life that you take with you when you die.

At the back of the building is a bookstore and stationery shop, it is very common to get them, because it is the neighborhood where one of the oldest universities in the world was born. The Sorbonne.
My recommendations
- You should wear comfortable shoes, because Paris is a city with many tourist attractions that you do not want to miss because you do not feel comfortable. In addition, many of the streets are made of stone, which makes it difficult to move around if you do not have appropriate footwear.
- Public transportation works very well, its logistics are organized and its units are clean. The Metro, although its appearance is old and neglected, its operation is excellent, fast and has many routes that allow you to reach any point without much effort.
- Remember to recharge your camera battery or better yet, bring a spare battery and memory.
- Finally, keep your mind and stomach open to know and try foods from other cultures.
