This lively #marketfriday is hosted by our lovely @dswigle. Though I am always late and forgetful, Denise is always there to give forgetful or too occupied bloggers all her support. I was very forgetful this year as we have all been overwhelmed by news about the pandemic. I had to renew my car registration which would be expired in two weeks’ time. Luckily, someone jolted my mind and I rushed to the familiar garage in the old part of Bangkok to get my car certificate of good health; no jab was required for the car.
So, I took the opportunity to visit the area which has been well known among backpackers and tourists called Khao San. This place was the fifth most popular tourist spots in SEAsia a few years ago. This was the center for backpackers as there were lots of restaurants, bars, night clubs, street food, shops, and many choices of cheap accommodations. This side street would become noisy and busy from late afternoon till early hours in the morning. But during the last two years, the whole place has become quiet like a deserted island.
I had only been there once with a group of some twenty people most civil servants many years ago. We were the guests of some officials and they decided to show us, strangers to night life in Bangkok, the fashionable Khao San. We were quite impressed by all bars, eateries and hotels along this side street. All the neon signs on both side of the buildings made the whole place looking like daytime. There were people and tourists everywhere, the area was over crowded with people shouting at each other as loud music was blasting out from shops, bars and restaurants.
This was my first visit to Khao San on my own during day light! I couldn’t recognise the place and had to ask for direction from a local vendor. She was right to day that people wouldn’t notice this street without hoards of foreign tourists lining along the corners. So, I had to retrace my steps back to witness the transformation of Thanon Khao San (Rice Street). The huge night club at the corner with three LED billboards was completely devastated by the country lockdown last year and the absence of tourism. The whole street was like a deserted cowboy town. Nothing was open for business; all the hotels, guest houses, fast food joints and shops were all close. This caused a sharp pain in my heart; many people had lost their livelihood.
I was lost for words at this monstrosity of the elites’ strategy for the Great Reset globally. I hope the whole truth would come to light soon so that people would realise how they had been manipulated and duped into succumbing to the brave new world of transhumanism and slavery. Alas, there would be casualties in this war for freedom and liberty. The struggle is still on going beneath the calm surface; only few well read and well informed people are aware of this in our country; judging by a few alternative websites and discussions on the internet. People are very careful about what they say in the chat room. But I am glad more people are waking up. The future is unknown and uncertain, karmic law will goes on its course. I just have to remind myself to live in the present and try to prepare myself for the future events.
The old buildings along the road reminded me of my childhood days of care free playtime with friends along the alleys near our old houses. These two-floor houses are over a hundred years old which were built as a part of modernisation of Siam by King Rama V (who saved Siam from being divided by the British and French colonial powers). But with the pandemic, Thailand becomes the battle ground between the Chinese and Western influences. I knew I had better enjoy this precious phase of relative peace and calm. It’s quite lonely not being able to persuade some old friends and families to take a safer route and to safeguard against uncertainty. I have to learn to let go and get along my path.
I was so glad to discover that local people and vendors could still sell their goods while those big shopping malls have to be close for two more weeks. The old Chinese supermarket still survive to these days though it has transformed into a much smaller scale shopping mall; it used to be one of the most luxurious malls during my childhood. So, the old family was determined not to be extinguished by bigger and richer malls. This suited the local people very well as prices are very affordable and they allow small vendors to sell their traditional Thai sweets and snacks in front of the supermarket. Most luxurious shopping malls would never allow other small verdors to impair the architectural design of their expensive constructions. I am terribly biased towards small people and the underdogs.
These vendors were very nice as they allowed me to take photos as I pleased; I would have liked to buy lots of their snacks. But I had a long walk back to the garage; I wished I had brought my small rug sack with me. I was quite surprised to see vendors selling very old style clothing from my grandparents generation. The cotton blouses and casual shirts, sarongs and Chinese silk pants, including children’s old style cotton blouses could be found among these small shops. I wished I had more time to spend along this market. The garage gave me a call telling me to fetch my car.
I was the only outsider walking with my camera taking pictures causing some curiosity among the vendors. They could not understand what a Thai person would be so excited by the ordinary and humble market. They had no idea these were like gold mine to me; they reminded me of my childhood days and all the good things we still have in our land despite all the difficulties and pain among the people. These delicious and wholesome snacks are still available during lockdown if we know where to look for them. Street food is still available along quiet roads. I really must make it back there again for the fish noodle shop, the rice cakes with coconut sugar on top, fermented fruits and old style steamed rice with condiments; I should also buy the old Indian snacks as well!
สัปดาห์นี้เราเริ่มรู้สึกว่าตัวเองเริ่มขี้หลงขี้ลืมมาก. เพราะเราลืมว่าต้องต่อประกันรถยนต์ ต้องตรวจสภาพรถยนต์ และต่อทะเบียนรถยนต์ด้วยก่อนเดือนหน้า เราจึงต้องรีบไปที่อยู่รถยนต์ที่มีการตรวจสภาพรถยนต์เจ้าเก่าที่เราเคยใช้มาแล้ว พอมีเวลาเราจึงเดินทางไปเที่ยวย่านบางลำภู เพื่อดูว่ามีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างไรบ้าง เราไม่ได้ไปเดินเที่ยวแถวนั้นเกินสิบปีแล้ว เราจึงเดินไปทางวัดชนะสงครามเพื่อไปสำรวจแถวถนนข้าวสาร แหล่งท่องเที่ยวของฝรั่งที่มีชื่อเสียงมากในอดีต เราเดินหาไม่เจอและต้องถามแม่ค้าเจ้าถิ่น เขาก็บอกว่าตอนนี้ไม่มีฝรั่งมาเที่ยว จึงหายากเพราะไม่มีจุดให้สังเกต เราต้องเดินย้อนกลับไปอีกรอบ ก็ถึงบางอ้อ ที่ถนนเงียบจนผิดไปจากความทรงจำของเรามาก เราจึงไม่เห็นว่าคือถนนข้าวสารที่อยู่ข้างหน้าเรา
เราใจหายมากที่เห็นทั้งถนนเงียบสงัด ประตูทุกบานของธุรกิจทั้งหลายปิดสนิท ทั้งถนนเป็นเหมือนเมืองร้างในหนังคาวบอยที่มีเมืองคาวบอยร้าวทั้งเมือง บาร์และไนท์คลับปิดหมด โรงแรมและร้านอาหารขนาดใหญ่ก็ปิดกิจการ ร้านขายของ ร้านขายอาหารตามสั่งก็หายไปหมด. เราสลดใจกับสภาพที่เห็นมาก เพราะนั่นหมายถึงคนจำนานมากที่หมดหนมางทำมาหากิน ชีวิตจิงคนจำนวนมากกำลังพังย่อยยับ ไปพร้อมกับระบบเศรษฐกิจและสังคมไทยในอนาคตอันใกล้. นี่เป็นผลของการคอรัปชั่นและความล้มเหลวด้านการศึกษาในประเทศ ที่ทำให้คนส่วนใหญ่ไม่สามารถรู้เท่าทันเล่ห์เหลี่ยมและ ความซับซ้อนของการล่าอาณานิคมทางปัญญาแบบใหม่ เพื่อล้มล้างเสถียรภาพของประเทศ และให้ง่ายต่อการครอบงำควบคุมในระยะยาว เราเดินเล่นอยู่คนเดียวทั้งถนน ไม่มีใครมาเดินดูความเปลี่ยนแปลงของบ้านเมืองกันเลย
เราก็พยายามบันทึกภาพ และเก็บทุกอย่างไว้ในความทรงจำ เราเสียดายมากที่สิ่งดีๆในบ้านเรา กำลังถูกทำลายด้วยความกลัว ความรู้เท่าไม่ถึงการของคนที่มีตำแหน่ง อำนาจหน้าที่และฐานะในสังคม พวกเขาปล่อยให้ความคิดถูกครอบงำด้วยความกลัว ไม่มีใครๆมีสติปัญญาพอที่จะสืบหาความจริงด้วยตนเองเลย เหมือนถูกสะกดจิตให้เชื่อทุกอย่างที่ผู้เชี่ยวชาญและกลุ่มล่าอาณานิคมในคราบของนักบุญแนะนำว่าดีหนักหนา. เราดีใจที่เห็นร้านขายของเล็กๆเรียงรายเปิดขายของได้ ตามถนนหน้าตั้งฮั้วเส็ง ห้างสรรพสินค้าเล็กๆนี้สามารถอยู่รอดมาได้จนเราแปลกใจ
ตรงหน้าห้างมีแผงขายขนมไทยๆหลายสิบร้าน มีแต่ของกินเล่นโบราณที่หากินที่อื่นไม่ได้แล้ว. เราอยากซื้อกินหลายอย่างทีเดียว แต่เราไม่ได้เอาเป้มาด้วย มันจะลำบากต่อการ
เดินเล่นของเรามาก เราก็ได้แต่จองด้วยสายตาและคิดว่าเราจะต้องกลับมาซื้อขนมหลายอย่างมากินให้สะใจสักวัน. มีตั้งแต่ข้าวแช่ กระท้อนแช่อิ่ม มะม่วงดอง ข้าวแต๋นกรอบๆ ขนมเบื้อง ถั่วลิสงคั่ว มีแต่ของกินที่หาในห้างใหญ่ในเมืองไม่ได้ คนแถวนั้นก็ใจดี ให้เราถ่ายรูปตามใจชอบ เราก็เดินดูและเก็บภาพมาเป็นที่ระลึก
นอกจากนี้เราก็เห็นร้านขายเสื้อผ้าโบราณแบบที่รุ่นตายายใส่กัน ตั้งแต่เสื้อผ้าป่าน เสื้อคอกระเช้า ผ้าถุงและกางเกงผ้าแพรแบบของคนจีนด้วย บรรยากาศที่นั่นทำให้เราคิดถึงคุณย่าและคุณยายขึ้นมาจับใจ ถิ่นเก่าบางลำพูเป็นที่ที่เราชอบกลับไปเดินเที่ยวเพื่อระลึกถึงความหลังสมัยเด็กๆ เราคิดถึงอดีตและวันดีๆในอดีตมาก เพราะเรารู้ว่าอนาคตจะไม่ค่อยน่าอภิรมย์นัก ความไม่แน่นอนและความปั่นป่วนในสังคมไทย กำลังจะมาเยือนในอนาคต เราจึงพยายามใช้ชีวิตในปัจจุบันให้ดีที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้ และค่อยๆแก้ปัญหาเฉพาะหน้าไปเรื่อยๆ เราคิดว่าเราโชคดีมากที่ยังสามารถหาของกินอร่อยๆได้ ชีวิตยังพอมีความหวังว่าคนไทยจะตื่นรู้ และรู้ความจริงเบื้องหลังของการใช้ไวรัสเพื่อครอบงำเศรษฐกิจของทุกประเทศในโลก เพื่อสร้างระเบียบโลกใหม่ คือการรีเซ็ตระบบการเงินการธนาคาร เพื่อฮุบความมั่งคั่งทางทรัพยากรจากประเทศต่างๆ และ การบังคับใช้เงินดิจิตอลสกุลเดียวทั่วโลก
ใครที่ควบคุมเงินดิจิตอลนี้ ก็จะมีอำนาจมหาศาล ที่จะชี้เป็นชี้ตายให้กับประเทศไหนก็ได้ คนธรรมดาที่ไม่ใช่พวกในกลุ่มชนชั้นปกครองก็จะกลายเป็นทาสทางการเงิน ซึ่งผู้มีอำนาจจะกดปุ่มไม่ให้เข้าถึงเงินในบัญชีได้ทุกเวลาภัยอันตรายกำลังคืบคลานมาช้าๆ แต่คนส่วนใหญ่ก็ยังไมาระแคะระคายถึงข้อเท็จจริงนี้ เราหวังว่าคงมีคนส่วนหนึ่งที่จะรอดพ้นจากสงครามวางยาพิษเพื่อลดจำนวนประชากรโลกในครั้งนี้ เพื่อจะได้มีคนที่อยู่ต่อไปในการสร้างชาติและ สังคมขึ้นมาใหม่ในอนาคต

Wow! What a transformation without all of those tourists! I am amazed at the difference a little bit of time made. It is so deserted and dead. Of course, with nobody allowed to stay in the country or go anywhere else but home, it is understandable.
But, look at all the people that suffer terrible fates because of this. So many (even here) have lost their jobs, their shops, and their workers. Some are bankrupt, with no income, no home, behind on their bills. What a mess this pandemic had made of our countries.
I am happy to see that some of the markets, especially the small independent ones have survived and made it, even if not like before. You have brought some very eye-opening shots of the country, and I appreciate your time and effort.

Yeah. It was quite alarming and very sad to seeing that things could never be back to previous normal again. Same problems around the globe which is intentional and planned. We had been too naive. Only those in the inner circles would know what’s coming!
The important thing is to maintain positive thoughts and vibrations. These invisible energies could do things beyond our imagination. We need more people to pray, contemplate and meditate in order to counter the influence of this dark and evil energy.
Have no fear and be compassionate as always.

I stayed a couple nights by Kosan road in the nineties. I lost my travel companion who was to meet me at a restaurant called Hello cafe. We traveled from the mainland near Koh Samui. I got scammed out of my seat on the bus and had to ride in a mini van with drunk young drivers. We made plans to meet there but she never showed up. I found out that there were two cafes by the same name.
I had a wild time by myself meeting people from around the world. Two days later was my flight back.
In December 2019 we went there for a day and it was not totally dead but a clear difference.

Yep! It’s quite heart breaking seeing the whole place abandoned like that. I do hope some kind of life will come back after two years. We still have to go through lots of pain and sufferings. Some will survive, I hope, so they could rebuild a new life.
Strange how there could be two places with the sane name! But you had a good time any way.
I do hope common sense and courage to accept truth will emerge from people’s consciousness soon!

Yup! It’s quite discouraging and depressing at times. Stay away from negative people and vaxx ones too. Send out some positive vibes for attracting more positive people to come your way.
