Hello Hivers
Welcome to Banff National Park, in Alberta Canada.
This was a 16Km hike to see the ink pots. They are a number of small pools of spring water that were named after a well of pen ink due to their colours, of various shades....
of blue and green. You can see the water bubbling up and seeing the silt swirl around at the bottom. The minerals in the water and the rate the water enters the pool help give it the appealing colour.
There are 5 small pools, all fed by the cold water spring. Today only 2 pools were visible due to the snow and a cold spell of -18C lately.
There are benches and bridges and a footpath around the pools to view from different angles.
The area sits in a nice valley, that is not heavily forested, allowing for great visibility around the area.
I found the pots very interesting, and even it isn't someones liking, the hike to
them is still an awesome journey.
Starting out a gentle climb, and then a descent into the valley, with a number of lookouts to spectacular scenery.
The seeping, swirling silt at the bottom
Thanks for joining me to see the ink pots.

Nice to see how it has changed, went there 4 weeks ago and the snow was just in the shaded parts
We had few snowfalls since.. I would like to go back in the Summer I really enjoyed it…thank you!
It might sound weird to you but seeing the white landscape makes me envy the cold spell you've got! Beautiful Canada ❤️🤍
Thank you...I embrace it... It is nice to lay on a warm beach sometimes, but the snow, skiing, skating, toboggening..all have their appeal. You should visit the country one day.
Exactly, they all have their appeal. And I personally like the changing seasons as opposed to stable climates.
Oh I'd love to visit Canada. someday 🙏
Oh yes, changing seasons is always looked forward to, each has it's own character.
You would love it here, the vastness and so much nature, the West is the best tho....
