I come from the island of Crete and I have had the same experience as you in some of the public beaches that I went to this year. In my case I was collecting the plastic and putting them into the can - but unfortunately me and my family were the only ones.
I really believe that as it is important for each and everyone to act, it is equally important to educate the youngsters but also inform the municipalities so that they reevaluate and change their strategies. Plan and access their actions.
Again, thank you for your post - It was a punch in the stomach - but let it be a catalyst
